The United Methodist Church is deeply divided over LGBT rights. Church law says same-gender relationships are "incompatible with Christian teaching." But several regional districts are openly defying the prohibition by appointing gay clergy and allowing same-sex weddings in churches. Some instances have led to trials under the church legal system.

A can of worms has long since been opened. They tricked our kids, who see no problem with this disgusting, immoral, FILTH. I applaud the God-fearing in the Methodist Church for making a strong stand against it; my own denomination is wavering before my eyes. It is tearing churches and families apart.

My old Methodist church, according to a member there, are standing strong for Biblical Christianity, however, they just installed a woman as senior pastor. I don’t see how the Biblical churches can be a part of a national church that does not share their beliefs. Women as pastors seems like a slippery slope to all the other liberal nonsense.

More rebellion against GOD that makes me happy to be a recovering Methodist.

As a lifelong Methodist, I’m seriously considering the Wesleyan or a Lutheran Missouri Synod church.

I’ve had enough of mine watering the Bible down.

Read what Jesus has to say to the churches in the first 3 chapters of the Book of Revelation. These people who are openly defying the Word of God are in some serious trouble with Him, I’m afraid. Jesus said he will spew them out of his mouth. That’s serious stuff.

John Wesley would be disgusted that the church he founded is rejecting the Bible.

The United Methodist Church is deeply divided over LGBT rights.

A. That's because the LGBT's won't leave and start their own damned church (and I mean that very sincerely), as they have been asked to do numerous times. No, the objective is for secular atheist homosexualism to defeat believers in the Word of God and to force the dhimmi trads to convert to homosexual supremacy and spout heresies like the homosexualists.

B. You don't have "rights" in a church. You have grace—if you follow the Word of God.

After five generations of Methodists in my family, I finally accepted reality and have been happy in the LCMS. Check it out. It’s a robust church theologically, with publications, seminaries, a web site and a strong line of Biblical defense.

So many conservative Methodists who are stuck in a liberal denomination lack the courage to walk away.

Can someone come up with an institution these mentally ill people haven’t infiltrated?

I’m seriously considering the Wesleyan or a Lutheran Missouri Synod church.

I went from UMC to LCMS 27 years ago, have never looked back. OTOH, as an LCMS I taught at a Wesleyan college for over a decade, and the few doctrinal differences weren't enough to make either the college or me uncomfortable. Whichever one you find God more closely, go there.

She doesn’t REALLY look like that!!!! Here’s her picture:

Nevertheless, the whole situation is pretty ugly, as well as filthy and disgusting!!!!

It is also inevitable, given the degeneration of Western Christianity and of Western civilization in general.

Please—for your own sake, and the sake of your family, check out the nearest English language Orthodox parish as soon as possible. Don’t procrastinate—you’ll forget about doing this or find excuses for not doing it if you do!

And in this election—we might possibly have the opportunity to stave off the decline of Western civilization. I hope that this is true, by God’s grace!!!!

I'm glad to hear that the Methodists have a church legal system so you can at least try to sanction this madcap, makeshift, minuscule "morality" with ecclesiastical penalties.

My own Catholic Church also has canon law, but it's very had to invoke it if your bishop doesn't want it invoked.

Here's one hopeful note on the Methodists: I remember that for decades, the "Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights" had their offices in the Methodist Building (UMC) in Washington, DC. I don't think that's the case anymore. I don't know why or how that situation changed, but I'm guessing that some conscientious Methodist must have belatedly blown the whistle.

I am thinking of the Orthodox Church. I am impressed by their martyrs in the middle east and by their adherence to male leadership. My problem is that the nearest is about to 1.5 hours away. The same with LCMS. Francis makes me fear the Catholics will soon be combating all that my Methodists are combating. The other churches in my area are more or less independent, fundamental charisma/holiness/baptistic/cambellite family churches.

I'm a bit puzzled at this point.

I think Francis will be aiding and abetting, not combatting.

Don't worry about that. The Catholic Church moves so slowly that we'll all be long dead by that time.

It's just rumblings.

We Catholics have withstood bad Popes before and on basic doctrine we came out the same way after they were gone. This too will pass. Francis is not forever the Roman Catholic Church is.

What I am combating in my Methodist denomination, although I didn’t clearly write that. Francis reminds me of one of our double tongue bishops....which is about all of them.
