Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Once again, we have a terrific conversation dramatized by the Apostle John. This story does not appear in the other Gospels, and I never heard in my childhood, except in the Negro Spiritual "Jesus Met The Woman at the Well" on an old Peter, Paul, and Mary Record. I had no idea what the song was about until the first time I read the Gospel of John...and then it all clicked!

All cities have a section that is considered "the rough side of town". There are even areas where the Police avoid, and in Europe there are Muslim enclaves that are considered "No-Go-Zones". The area around Jacob's Well was like that to the Jews of the First Century. And yet, here was Jesus, sending His Disciples (John among them) to buy food, while He stayed at the Well, at noon, when NOBODY would venture out into the heat and sun to fetch water.

Yet, here was this Woman, doing just that! It is speculated that she went for water at a time when she knew she wouldn't run into any of the townspeople, because of her lifestyle.

And there, she finds a Jew, of all People(!), asking her for a drink of water!

The Woman does what we often do right here on FR. She engages the Stranger in debate, both Political and Religious. She even throws up a "Straw Man Argument" about where someone should do their worshiping. ANYTHING to divert the Stranger from the harsh truth of her own sinful lifestyle. (Hey...I've done that very thing, and I am sure I am not alone...the debate and argument part, not the seven husbands thing LOL).

In any case, John and his fellow Disciples are in for a big surprise after scrounging the "Hood" for some lunch!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

This Symbol Represents Christians in The Middle East, who desperately need our Prayers.

One of my favorite stories, left that other site.

Joining in prayer for our Israel, our beloved America, and all God’s people.

Amen. She sure knew a lot about the Jewish faith for a Samaritan, didn’t she? (where the Jews worship, the Christ was going to come and explain all, called Jacob her father)
