In verse 32 of your text, Jesus said:

“Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished.”

If this prophecy wasn’t fulfilled in Jesus’ generation, why should we listen to him any more than we would Joseph Smith?

So what does the fig tree mean to you then?

The fig tree in Biblical context symbolizes Israel. Some scholars suggest it means the same generation that sees Israel become a nation again “shall not pass away, till they are accomplished”.

Tsunamis come from undersea earthquakes and volcanoes. Both are natural. The Japanese have the earthquake mode down to a “t” and deal with the tsunamis because they have to and have been doing so for as long as there have been Japanese people.

Nothing to be perplexed about here, I think.
