One Of The Best Things You Can Do For Yourself & Others Is Think About and Preach Hell
I have been reading some meditations on Hell by Venerable Luis de la Puente. I have found them to be most helpful, and if I may, I would like to explain some of them to you in the hopes that it will help you and yours.
Hell, as with heaven, has been depicted in such a way as to make it seem banal. What is your conception of hell right now before you read this? Fire? Burning? Demons poking you with sticks? Complete solitude? Sadness? Boredom? Nothingness? Annihilation?
Oh, it is so very, very much worse than any of that.
First, if you end up damned, you will hate with an ever-increasing hatred and rage EVERYONE and EVERYTHING. You will hate everyone else that is in hell with you, and you will hate everyone on earth (as long as it lasts), and you will hate everyone and everything in Heaven, including all people, angels and God Himself.
And everyone in hell will hate you with the same ever-growing hatred, and will express it to you forever.
Lets hone in on this. Do you have children or grandchildren? Beloved nieces and nephews? If you end up in hell, you will be in proximity to your damned family members, and they will hate you and curse you for all eternity. They will blame you for NOT HELPING THEM AVOID HELL. And you will hate them right back. You will curse and despise them, because damned souls, having rejected God, who is Love, have therefore rejected love and are thus incapable of anything other than anger, hatred, jealousy and fear. There is no love in hell. Zero.
So, think about your children, or grandchildren, or nieces and nephews. Think about how much you love them right now, and how inconceivable it is that you could ever hate them. If you go to hell, and they also go to hell, you will spend all eternity hating them, and they you.
You should be utterly terrified by the very thought, and you should be now, as we speak, figuring out how to avoid this by any means necessary. NOTHING in this would could possibly, possibly be more important than this.
Now, lets say that you make it to heaven, but your children are lost to hell. You will spend all of eternity rejoicing in Gods Perfect Justice, and thus rejoicing in the damnation of your children. Now stop and think about your children and how much you love them right now. Think about the sheer terror of ever, ever rejoicing in their eternal damnation. And yes, it is completely and entirely appropriate to be, right now, terrified at the thought of this, even though it is Gods Perfect Justice, precisely because the question is still open.
Just because God, being outside of time and omniscient, already knows the fate of every soul DOES NOT mean that we arent all free to choose. God knows what you are going to eat for dinner tomorrow night, but you will still be completely free to choose what you have for dinner. God knows what you will freely choose simply because He can see the entire timeline simultaneously. Likewise He knows our eternal fates now, but we are still free to make those choices and thus form the timeline. He knew from all eternity that you would read this essay, right now. He also knows how you will react to it, by your own free choice. So, it is entirely appropriate for you, right now, to be horrified and the prospect of rejoicing in the damnation of your children, because it is precisely in that horror that you might freely choose to do anything and everything in your power to keep your children from being lost to hell while the both of you still live.
Lets take the example of two people who are fornicating with each other. And to make it as confrontational as possible, lets make it between a heterosexual couple: two normal, attractive single people a totally straight man and a completely straight woman who love each other and have sex. After all, we are being saturated in relativism, and we are ALL tempted to believe that male-female fornication is no big deal or not nearly as bad as the freak show of perversion and sodomy that we see all day every day now.
If our happy couple die in the mortal sin of their fornication, both will go to hell, and will be in close proximity to each other, and will spend all of eternity hating and cursing each other for leading each other to hell. Oh, and by the way, this goes for people in the adulterous marriages that Bergoglio is so desperately trying to convince them are not sinful.
But, but, but you might say, they dont hate each other now. They LOVE each other now!
First, they sure as hell wont love each other when they are both in hell, will they? Not only will they hate each other, but instead of being a consolation, they will be a torment to each other because there are absolutely no consolations in hell. None.
Second, do two people, no matter how happy, normal and benign, who are FORNICATING really love each other? Really? REALLY? The answer is no. If they really loved each other, they wouldnt BE ABLE to fornicate with each other, because the thought of causing or cooperating in mortal sin with the other person would be completely off the table, that is, morally impossible. Yeah, we sure throw the word love around, dont we?
Oh, and the damned will be in close proximity to ALL of the people that they have fornicated with who also end up damned. And all of their family members and friends who are also damned. And all of the damned will curse each other for not helping them avoid damnation, or for actively tempting, scandalizing and encouraging them in their sin.
Now, if one of our fornicators repents and dies in friendship with Christ lets say the guy but the girl does not, then the guy will spend all eternity rejoicing in her damnation. Are you fornicating? Do you have even the slightest shred of care for the person you are fornicating with? Then what you need to do is think about rejoicing in their damnation. Imagine you (the guy) make it to heaven, and they (the girl) dont. Look into their eyes, and imagine rejoicing at their damnation. And keep thinking about it until your erection goes away. (And same idea for the females, of course.)
Which brings us to priests and clergy. For those that end up damned, they will be eternally hated, cursed and tormented by all of the souls that they failed. And the damned priests and clergy will hate their flock right back. For. All. Eternity.
Which brings us to Jorge Bergoglio.
Can you imagine CAN. YOU. IMAGINE what hell will be like for him if he doesnt repent of all of this and revert to Catholicism? I have been praying for his repentance and reversion all along, but Im REALLY feeling it now after reading these meditations on hell.
Additionally, it occurred to me in all of this that those instances in our lives in which we have been hated and attacked, most especially by people that we love, even by Diabolical Narcissists, are really a merciful opportunity for us to experience a foretaste of hell, and be scared to death by it. I have seen DNs, consumed with anger, hatred, jealousy and fear, bare their teeth, contort their otherwise resplendent countenances, and RAGE, hurling the most vile obscenities with the intent of inflicting as much pain and torment as possible. I have seen the face of human damnation, and I never want to see it again, or become that myself.
Have you ever been hissed, cursed and raged at by a friend, spouse, parent, child, coworker, priest? Do you remember how horrible that felt? Well, that is what hell will be like, except infinitely and ever-increasingly worse and for all eternity because yes, infinity can increase. And you will be just as monstrous, hissing and cursing just like them if you end up damned too.
So think about these realities, and then do anything and everything you possibly can to help yourself, those you love, those you hate, and other people in general to NOT GO TO HELL, because it is far, far, far worse than anything any of us can now imagine.
If after reading and thinking about what you have just read here, if you still genuinely do not care if other people go to heaven or hell, and still genuinely feel that other people are not my circus, not my monkeys, then may I suggest that you visit THIS PAGE.
I know I say this a lot, but I REALLY, REALLY hope this helps.
replied to so I can read this later...thanks...
I don’t know about hell, but one should contemplate
death every day. That way when it happens, it won’t be
such a surprise.
The way of the samurai is found in death.
That's all Ann does anyway. Whatever message she has is drowned in rage. It makes this whole article pathetically ironic.
Worst post of the year, so far.
I think the first and biggest surprise most people have after they die is that they're not dead.
After that, there are two completely different second reactions, depending on the person. The first is joy, followed by gratitude.
The second is terror, followed by the reflection and thought of, "oh no...".
“Got a question for you: is there a difference between rage and righteous anger?”
You and I seem to know that Difference but just as Ann is trying to say, Help those that are blind before they find themselves past the time for choice. She is “Righteous in here Remarks for she know to some extent whats waiting for the Damned and she know we should do what we can to help them see, but in the end it is Their Own Free Will that the decision will come from.
P.S. and how many so called Christians believe in Heaven yet have a hard time say let alone believing in Hell???
God Bless
Many people say they are saved. But from what are they saved?
The answer is God’s wrath, which is worthy of some thinking............
I would say rage is the expression of unlimited anger alone, while righteous anger is anger tempered by its claimed reason. At times they can be equal. Mostly, they're not, because mostly, rage is the loss of control over anger.
Why?
Somebody's got to do it; especially since Francis has already dissed Hell.
I have to disagree with the OP article.
We are flatly told that Christ came to destroy the works of the Devil and sin is that work.
For that reason alone any form of sin, even those of the heart as unrighteous hate is, must be denied the damned.
And if you will follow the logic I’m about to present you may see that this is actually worse for the finally damned in terms of what they would want.
At issue is the underlaying nature or anyone in the resurrection and in this a contrast between saint and damned is useful.
The saints in the resurrection of the redeemed have the Holy Spirit defining their very nature and the sin nature, the old body of death, is gone. That doesn’t mean memory of this life is gone though, just that memory of sin will be in relation to realized holiness and seen as the horror it actually is.
But the damned only possess a sin nature, that doesn’t mean that they only remember that but it does mean that they will want to still exercise that nature even in Hell. There is no redemption possible for them because they have no recourse to the Holy Spirit. Yes, they will then “believe” yet only as the demons do.
In the past I’ve found the metaphor of an “itch” to be useful if only because most everyone can relate to the sensation, especially the maddening ones that just cannot be reached.
Even now while still in this life a saint, because of the presence of the Holy Spirit, has an “itch” for godliness.
Just as all men who still endure this body of death have a sin “itch”.
Which itch you scratch at, obey, determines which is growing stronger, for one of the things about some itches is that the more you scratch at them the more intense they become.
So the mortal saint has these two masters vying for his attention, but in being faithful and proverbially scratching at the promptings of the Holy Spirit the saints, and only the saints, have the option of not sinning ... it’s just a matter of Whom or what your obey.
In the resurrection the saint will no longer have that second would-be master, the body of death, demanding his attention but only the Holy Spirit. As a consequence the godly “itch” can be scratched at and thereby inflamed endlessly, and the saints will evermore be able to enjoy relationship with Him who saved them. Heaven is then easily seen as an expansive state without boundaries. God: a source of endless ever increasing fascination and joy we will never tire of and the saints have His promise that He will not let go of us, and He is faithful.
BUT the damned in the resurrection only have the sin nature. They have scratched at their sin itch their whole lives in various ways and it is true that some will have not done so either as frequently nor as intensely as others ... so it is logical that some of the lost will start of in Hell with a weaker “itch” than others.
This is not necessarily as people would think of it because men have a high estimation of morality; yet, morality, or the knowledge or good and evil, has been the problem from the beginning. Our parents were created as holy beings and in their fall they became merely moral. So I think it reasonable that the lack of holiness, and not just morality, defines the sin nature. A heathen who never knew much about the Father but who lived morally would have less of a sin itch than one who scratched at it vigorously BUT both probably pale in comparison to some life long pew warmer who was steeped in the knowledge that could have saved them but never turned to Christ.
I bring this up only to point out that, if sinning anew is to be forever prevented among the damned so that nothing remains of the works of the Devil, that what needs to be restrained will be different from individual to individual.
And her we get to why an “itch” is a wonderful metaphor.
I’ve already stated that the saints will be able to endlessly scratch at their itch for all things God forever ... but I’ve also indicated that the damned are NEVER to be able to scratch at their sin itch again.
Think of the sheer frustration in those times when you’ve had a raging itch you just cannot reach, or must not reach as with chicken pox, when scratching your back on a door post like some old bear on a tree is the only thing you can think to do.
Frustration is the idea I’m introducing here.
I identify the eternally frustrated desire to scratch at the sin itch, as an internal toment, with the worm. Like a mortal itch the damned would be squirming about in body and mind to desperately have what they are restrained from having.
This is true horror everlasting.
The restraint, the nominally external pressure to them body and mind that keeps them from ever again sinning I’ve likewise associated with the fire, or God’s wrath.
Because of the external wrath and the internal frustration the damned are held in a static state, not physically but developmentally. They cannot scratch at their sin itch so it cannot grow worse. As eternity rolls on they remain as they were when judged, eternally frustrated and bound.
And in this, I reckon, sin would be done away with just as the scripture indicates.
One of the things this line of thinking has led me to believe is that Hell is not necessarily punitive, a reprisal to what was done, so much as it is a response to what the damned are. This also helps to define why Hell can never get better for the lost, for if the pressure (wrath) were let up for even an instant the damned would jump on the opportunity to sin anew with gusto and in that become far worse and fitted for worse wrath than they had been, in a way not unlike the article supposes.
Heaven: rich, diverse, growing, never denying anything the saint may want.
Hell: frustrated, monotonous, static, the damned eternally denied in anything they may want ... even a sip of water.
Or, of course, you can prefer to imagine Hell only as punishment and the damned as still able to sin ... if you want.
Do you deny Satan and his demons still sin? Or do you deny their existence at all?
“Which brings us to Jorge Bergoglio... Can you imagine?”
Ann rocks. The first problem with hell is the loss of God. And everything after that is nothing compared to the loss of God. He is everything and the source of all goodness.
Mass and confession every month, every year. Nothing else works so simply and certainly.
One damned priest in hell said that if he could live on earth again, then he would live on his knees 12 hours a day humbling begging the Lord for mass and confession.
They sin now.
Hell, the law of fire, was created for them ... and not “for them” in the sense that it’s something they would want.
I’m not denying their existence at all.
Just pointing out that they will not be reigning in Hell ... God will be.
And if sinning is to be entirely done away with, so that none of the works of the Devil persist (Hell being God’s work), that means that those monsters, who knowingly rebelled from a holy state in His presence, will face the most sever wrath of all. And justly so.
There is, after all, a difference between wanting and having.
Derp ... “lake” not “law” ... I hate typos!
Thanks for the essay. I have learned: don’t mess with Texas.
The itch is a weak analogy and sin nature is a fuzzy phrase.
The intellectual soul in the next life will be aware with all his faculties to detect his environment whether there are sweet smells and harmonies or foul odors and grinding of teeth. Thus, human nature will be placed in grace or damnation in the next life. Purgatory is for those who are going to mass and confession but still unclear about the intellectual soul.
I don’t know what type of stand-up “philosopher” you consider yourself to be; but Heaven and Hell will exist for eternity and never the twain shall meet.
Satanists do want to go to Hell.
