Or in this case, by their hair.
An important inclusion in the passage, chajin.
Sadly, this news was posted in the “entertainment” section, by CNN.
No matter our perfect or imperfect persona— Christians are always mocked, in this world.
She may have talked about a Jesus, but her Jesus wasn’t like the one in the Bible. She was just another false prophet stealing from the poor with the promises of miracles. (Is there anyone on TBN that doesn’t fit that description?)
Is that really her? Or photoshopped?
18 “What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense
or in truth, CHRIST is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.”
Post of the thread!
We’re all going to be judged one day. Some folks forget that.
The fortunate thing is that God doesn’t use perfect people, he uses people who are willing.
I remember we used to see the two of them walking together in the mall, daily, and we’d roll our eyes at them. They were, in our eyes, always faintly comical.
But for whatever their personal defects, of which I know nothing, I don’t know them as people at all, they built a network that reaches into every country on earth, in just about every language you can think of. I didn’t do that, they did.
They have passed on, but what they built remains and has inspired others to do the same thing they did.
I seriously doubt she can hear anyones prayers.
When I first saw her I thought it was strange that Tammy Faye was back on TV with some other guy after her husband was put in prison.
” They were, in our eyes, always faintly comical.”
Their whole tv show was always faintly comical, only it never made me wanna laugh.
Looking at the man in the mirror is a wise thing to do.
BUT...
Pay very close attention to the passage. Often it is MISQUOTED that we are not to judge.
Quite the contrary.
Matthew Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brothers eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye, and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, FIRST take the log out of your own eye,
AND THEN you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brothers eye.
We are first to introspect, like you said.BUT...we aren't to leave it there.
We are then TOLD TO help take the speck out of our brother's eye.
Matthew 7: 13 Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
These verses tell us not everybody is going to enter into eternal life. Not all ways are the same.
15 Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits.
BEWARE
: to be on one's guard
: to be wary of
How does one beware, WITHOUT some form of judgement OR DISCERNMENT???
No...these verses are clear. We are to BEWARE...to be on the look out for false prophets. We are to watch them and make a judgement call.
Paul says in Romans 16:17 I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. 19 Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.
If we aren't supposed to judge, then Pauls admonition to watch out for
And keep away from would be judgemental.
I think we are to be on the lookout for false teachers. Outside of Crouch's crafted tv words and tears, there are plenty of things in the background that should make us beware.
EXACTLY!!!
I was enraged, when a few years back Paul Crouch started wearing the clergy collar. I saw it as something he wore to GIVE HIMSELF more legitimacy, to fool the sheeple.
They also started calling him (on his own shows) DOCTOR Paul Crouch.
DOCTOR???
His doctorates are all honorary.
Only the disingenuous would use the title of Doctor after getting an honorary doctorate degree.
Everything was to puff himself up.
I find it disturbing that some on this forum mindlessly defend those who shamelessly take advantage of their followers (”touch not the Lord’s annointed...”). The Crouches made a career out of soliciting money from those with limited means and used it to fuel their lavish lifestyle - as shown by the enormous mansion they lived in, private jets, etc. Their lifestyle had NOTHING in common with the humility of the One they claimed to serve.
They never fool me. They are evil the whole lot of them.
oh, my eyes hurt now...
That is an understatement. According to the New York Times: "The [couples] lavish perquisites, described by [estranged granddaughter and former financial officer Brittany] Koper and corroborated by interviews with two other former TBN employees, include additional, often-vacant homes in Texas and on the former Conway Twitty estate in Tennessee, corporate jets valued at $8 million and $49 million each and thousand-dollar dinners with fine wines, paid with tax-exempt funds..."
Apparently the Crouches had matching lavish "his & hers" mansions. This is inexcusable and an utter shame upon the name of Christ.
And apparent Paul had a lot of “his” in his mansion.
