We are called to hold fast to the teachings of Christ and His Apostles
Did He teach to follow the church leaders mandates of His time? Or was He in conflict with them?
so when Christ Himself said that he would build His Church upon Peter
He built His Church upon a fallible mortal man who would deny Him three times or was it his declaration that Jesus was the Christ?
would grant him the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven
But not him alone. The keys are available to anyone who confesses and believes.
and that the gates of hell would not prevail against it...why would I abandon His Church?
Because He was not speaking of a Roman denomination infested with corruption, idolatry and vice.
Why would I abandon that which He instituted?
Because you cannot distinguish what it was that He instituted.

The RCC system has well indoctrinated its adherents to conflate the body of believers, which is the work of The Holy Spirit, with the organization that is catholiciism. This conflation floats the great lies that are hallmark of catholiciism. This conflation frames the catholic perspective so powerfully that catholics are in delusion regarding the Truth of the body of believers and salvation.
If the writings of the early church fathers, which attest to the profession of faith Peter made as the rock upon which Jesus IS building the body of believers, if those writings are unintelligible to the catholic blindness then it is even less likely that a non-Catholic will get through the darkness to enlighten the dogmatized.
