He has run the best vocation producing newman centre in the nation—averaging around ten students a year heading for novitiates or seminary.
I think you’ve done well.

Technically, Tulsa is a 'missionary' diocese in the buckle of the Bible Belt. We need to maintain a conservative catholic presence.

We are blessed here in Tulsa. We attend Christ the King. We have a very special Pastor, Msgr. Daniel Mueggenborg. His assistant, Rev. Elkin Gonzalez, was recently named Vicar General, Director of Vocations - Diocese of Tulsa.
I don't know how long either of these guys will be around.

Congratulations to dear Bishop Slattery on his retirement and to Bishop-Elect Kunderla and the Diocese. We moved here (Charlotte) from Tulsa in 2003. I see that the many Africans who were seminarians when we were there are now ordained.

We are blessed here in Tulsa. Christ the King is a great parish. Both Msgr. Mueggenborg and Fr.Elkin are from the Gregorian University in Rome. Excellent theologians, and very conservative.
My concern was a new bishop who was not conservative. Sounds like we got lucky.

We went to St. Benedict in Broken Arrow when Fr. Gaalaas was pastor. It does seem that your new Bishop will be very good. Is Bishop Slattery going to retire to Clear Creek Monastery?
