ACLU Attacks US Catholic Hospitals, Saying 'Health Care' is Restricted

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has launched a campaign against Catholic hospitals, charging that the health of patients-- especially women-- may be endangered by the US bishops' health-care directives.

Noting that Catholic institutions account for one of every six hospital beds in the US, the ACLU remarks that Catholic institutions are generally forbidden to perform abortions and sterilizations or to euthanize patients: procedures that the ACLU defines as forms of "health care" Thus the ACLU report concludes that "health care" is not always available at US hospitals because of Catholic teachings.

"When hospitals prevent doctors from providing care, the hospital is illegally imposing itself into a doctor-patient relationship," said Ruth Dawson, an ACLU attorney. The ACLU announced plans to have attorney take action against Catholic institutions, so that courts (rather than hospitals) would determine which medical procedures should be provided.

But ACLU is happy with restricting healthcare under Obamacare.

The power of words and definitions. In the minds of the vile decadent Left, the killing of unborn human life is “health care”.

The ACLU, of course, includes CM, convenient murder, in its definitions of Health Care. It is very important that the principle of utter interchangeability of human units and the use or destruction of inconvenient units for the benefit of those who direct and manage the society, the Rulers as it were.

I am for socialism, disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the state itself as an instrument of violence and corruption. I seek the social ownership of property, abolition of the propertied class and the sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.

This needs to be fought tooth and nail.

Plenty of other places to have the ‘health care’ someone wants without forcing the Catholic hospitals to compromise their faith and morals.

This is a similar tactic as the homosexuals used against a bakery when there were so many in the area that would have gladly baked a cake for them. But the object is to destroy Catholicism.

We’re going to find out that the left should have been stopped in their tracks back then. Failing to do that only emboldened them.

The Catholics may just want to close down all their hospitals and let the commie piggies down at the aCLU pick up the slack.

revised:

“When Legal Organizations prevent Lawyers from providing services, the Legal Organization is illegally imposing itself into a Lawyer-Client relationship,” said Ruth Dawson, an ACLU attorney. The ACLU announced plans to have attorney take action against Legal institutions, so that courts (rather than Lawyers) would determine which Legal Services should be provided.

Sounds a lot like the Pot calling the Kettle black to me.

“’Health Care’ is Restricted”

I think health care at most hospitals is restricted. My local hospital has a level III trauma designation. Should they be forced to upgrade to level I? I’ve never heard of the local doing complex brain or heart surgery, they send people to larger hospitals for that. Should they be forced to upgrade? They closed the psych ward. Should they be forced to reopen it? Should they do all of that in pursuit of unrestricted health care?

No, they should only be forced to provide “services” which are immoral and harmful to their patients.

You’ll notice the ACLU isn’t demanding hospitals provide treatment for homosexuality. On the contrary, they’re demanding that beneficial service be withheld in all cases.

Then open your own [expletive deleted] hospitals.

The ACLU and Big Government Progressives need to restrict healthcare to control healthcare. They want the Catholic Hospitals to stop offering Healthcare so they can control/monopolize healthcare. Competition is not allowed in socialist countries.
