the wounds on the shroud are in the hands while crucifixion occurred through the wrist bones?
That theory comes from some writings and a video done more than 30 years ago. The idea was that a nail through the hand would not support the full weight of the body and tear through the flesh, while a nail in-between the joints of the wrist would.
However, the whole body's weight never rested totally on the hands. Weight was on the feet, through a nail in the ankles, and in many cases, rope was tied around the arms to help hold the person on the cross.
The Bible states again and again that the holes are in the hands.

People were crucified through hands as well demonstrated by the evidence presented in this new article.
“Three nails where found in the ossuary with pieces of hand bones attached to two of them, suggesting the victim had been crucified.”

The Bible states again and again that the holes are in the hands. And so they would be, from the front view. At the base of the palm, there is a depression in the muscles you can feel yourself. Place the nail there and it will naturally find the channel through the wrist bones and come out exactly in the place on the back of the wrist seen on the Shroud. The wrist bones encircle the nail and keep the body on the cross, not allowing it to tear thrower as would be the case if it were placed in the center of the palm. The Roman Soldiers who performed crucifixions would have been taught this technique and location by their leaders.
