Cue Elsie to show up with the 7 churches in Asia thing but the fact remains, if you can't trust the Christianity of the 1st century Christians then you certainly can't trust the Americanism of the 21st.

But you CAN'T trust everything the 1st century churches taught.

All you have to do is read the epistles of Paul to the Corinthians and Galatians to see that error was creeping in almost immediately. Paul addressed those issues in his letters to the churches.

As a matter of fact, error was creeping into the church in the book of Acts. Else there's have been no need for the Council at Jerusalem to write its letter and send it out.

First of all, what's with the insult to a lady Christian poster by calling her "John?"

Here's the conundrum....

If I'm not John MacArthur (which is what he's claimed in the past), he's making it personal, bearing false witness, and mind reading, most of which violates the RF posting guidelines.

If I am John MacArthur then he's compromised my screen name, a VERY, VERY serious breach of protocol on FR and actually a ban worthy offense.

So which is it, tc? Are you making false accusations and bearing false witness or just compromising my screen name?

We might lose half a billion people (if not more) but at least we’d all know what was Catholic and what wasn’t.

It's up to your leadership to lead; otherwise another Luther will come along and pull back the curtain again.

I think the story of Gideon is still in the bible that Rome uses.

If it's not there's absolutely zero guarantee that any of the extra-Biblical stuff is true.

While vast numbers of folks will say....

... there's absolutely zero guarantee that any of the Biblical stuff is true!

Don’t worry, Mom.

It’s when they QUIT talking to (or about) you that you’ve REALLY gotten to them.

Abraham had faith. Catholcism says you have to eat and drink flesh and blood which in violation of the OT laws. Ummmmm. Wonder who I'm going with on this one.

How about having faith in the One who told us....no, ordered us to eat of His Flesh and drink of His blood. And in case you hadn't noticed, the OT is over and done.

That’s a given. Jesus DID think the OT was enough to bring people up to date on who He was. How do you think they knew who to look for, Einstein?

The old testament certainly told them who to look for and, of course, they found Him. However, the old testament pretty well ended about then and without the followers of Christ, the Catholic church, you would not have a bible, you would not have a new testament, and you would not know who Jesus Christ was....

Set your bible aside and try to find original writings concerning Jesus....rely on none which use the Bible for reference and they tell me what historical documents that you would use to describe the character of Jesus Christ.....there are none.

She/he referred to himself/herself as John long ago.

Set your bible aside......

Did God really say?

I'm not setting my Bible aside. You can abandon the Truth if you want, I'm sticking with it.

John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

Sorry, but you've been PROVEN wrong on this by the VERY words of Jesus. Reply 768.

post 768 contained new testament passages and makes my point, without the Catholic Bible and new testament, you would never know who Jesus was.

Granted that the words are all there and were written down, but the ONLY place to find them is in the CATHOLIC Bible....try to find them elsewhere and let me know where.

http://coldcasechristianity.com/2014/is-there-any-evidence-for-jesus-outside-the-bible/

All too easy to do.

You do recall that Phillip taught the Ethiopian Eunuch about Jesus from the OT......right?

Sometimes, no, many times, you amaze me with your lack of knowledge on the Bible.

The Catholic church can only maybe take credit for assembling all known Scripture into one volume.

The writing of the Scripture is the work of the Holy Spirit and we would know about Jesus because GOD made sure we would not because the Catholic church made sure we would.

God can do just fine without the Catholic church.

hat may be the only time catholics at FR will ever be exposed to The Revelation of John in part. Too much Truth for the magicsteeringthem organized mind to handle.

Catholics understood the Revelation of John for 1,600 years before there even were Protestants...

I don't think they can even do that. Roman catholicism didn't come into existence until the 4th century. The NT canon was established well prior to that. I'll give 'em Trent when they officially made their canon.

The writing of the Scripture is the work of the Holy Spirit and we would know about Jesus because GOD made sure we would not because the Catholic church made sure we would.

He sure seemed to do ok in getting the OT put together without roman catholicism didn't He!

God can do just fine without the Catholic church.

And He will continue to do fine in spite of it.

Catholics understood the Revelation of John for 1,600 years before there even were Protestants...

Now that's very comical seeing how only 31.9% is covered in the Liturgy. That's based on a Sunday and Weekday Lectionary.

It drops to 9.4% if only Sunday and Major Feasts are counted.

Too many still think they can eat His Body which is Physically now in Heaven, to get the body (physical body no less!), blood, soul and DIVINITY of GOD into there stomach to be magically transformed into their spirit which is not physical in this spacetime plane.

You apparently don't think that God has the power to do that.....you are wrong.

And He will continue to do fine in spite of it.

Just like He's always been doing.

There are churches in heavily Catholic areas that are just chock full of former Catholics.
