GOD:
"I am the LORD; that is my name!
I will not give my glory to anyone else,
nor share my praise with carved idols.
--Isaiah 42:8
Rome:
"This is not an idol."

2 Thessalonians 2:15
Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions you were taught, either by our message or by our letter.
The Bible tells me so.

The Bible tells me so. And in the Bible alone, as of this time.
That was written to the Thessalonians alive at the time the letter was written, who were personally taught by disciples who were themselves personally taught by Jesus. After their deaths, only the writings accepted as infallible inerrant verbally inspired plenary preserved by the pillar and ground (foundation) of the church of God, throughout its local branches, is the now-effective portion of this verse.
The precepts in view were available by inspired speech of the apostles (who are no longer available) or by the inspired epistles they sent. Uninspired letters, though historical, are not Holy Scripture, and therefore have no authority if they are contrary to the Bible, or are extra-biblical.
The opinions of human beings subsequent to the apostles if in agreement with the Bible are superflous, and if contrary to it are Satanic.

. . . the bible that Rome gave us . . . the Byzantine bible that Rome received and passed on, with some mending of things they didn't like . . .
