Easter is the most important Holy Day of the year, and thats because its the day we celebrate the most important day in human history: the resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In 1956, several buildings in New York City commemorated Easter in a really cool way: they lit up certain windows at night to form the shape of a cross!
And heres the photo as it was printed in a newspaper:
You can see that the paper listed times for Easter services on the left. Under the photo, it had this description:
Huge crosses, formed by lighted windows, blaze above New York's skyline as part of an Easter display in Manhattan's financial district. This scene, photographed from the roof of the Municipal Building, features 150-foot-high crosses in the City Services Co., City Bank Farmers Trust Co., and the Forty Wall Street Corp. buildings.

beautiful. before my time.
i’m just glad the Empire State still lights up red, white and blue for the fourth.
Not any more, so as not to “offend somebody”.
I find this very sad. What a stark image as to the degree our nation has now turned its back on our Savior.
From the relatively tranquil and harmonious 1950s to the disease ridden, gender confusion, violent world we now have. To me, this vividly demonstrates the consequences of turning away from the One who created us.
If someone did that now they would be charged with a hate crime.
I really detest liberals.
It’s a beautiful picture. I wasn’t born yet, but I still mourn for that lost America. Aside from the toys, I really don’t enjoy this age we’re living in.
I just realized I was in the Bronx at the time. Just learning to walk?
Bfl
Let’s face it. 1956 was a very good year! ;-) ;-)
When AMERICA was GREAT
Last September they put a depiction of a demon on the Empire State building.
Life before the PC madness what a great time.
Really?
Quite a contrast there. Not surprising, though.
AWESOME!!!
Oh, for the good ole days.....
I agree, but most of us just think we are a little bit off track. If only we straightened out this one or two things. We have been boiling frogs for these past 50 years. Obama planted additional doubt by saying we were not a Christian nation. Sounds pretty similar to ‘surely you won’t die’, the words Satan uttered to Eve. Hold your faith and Praise the Lord for leading you deeper in it in these times.
Thanks.
