The Reformation in fact reformed nothing in Germany. The local church broke with Rome and became a tool of the state. The same only more so in Britain Churchmen used church property corruptly. The state seizes church property and used it corruptly. A zealot like Knox was like a reforming pope. His reforms held only so long as he and his proteges were alive and in charge. I know by reading Paul how quickly corruption comes to a congregation. The parable of the wheat and the tares tells us that this situation is going to continue until the end of days. The Church is like a family. Two brothers grow up in the same household but do not grow up the same. One is good and one is evil.
Well then; did the COUNTER Reformation have any effect?
