Among the many heresies and outright lies taught by the Word Of Faith movement, the false doctrine that Jesus Christ became born again after suffering in Hell at the hands of the Devil is among the most pernicious. This whopping lie is taught by is taught by Joyce Meyer, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, as well as nearly every other false teacher in the Word Of Faith movement.

**âTruly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.â When Jesus said that on the cross, to the thief next to him, I donât think he was referring to Hell.**
I agree. But, I think that Jesus told the thief that, because that would be the thief’s next conscious experience after death. Three days after his death on the cross (the ‘sign of Jonah’) Jesus told Mary Magdalene, upon his showing himself to her near the tomb:
“Touch me not, for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and to your Father; and to my God, and to your God.” John 20:17
That would make it clear to me, that Jesus Christ had not ascended anywhere, but he spiritually DID go to hell and snatch the keys of hell and death from the devil.
Just as one has no knowledge of the passing of time while sleeping or in a coma, so it is, imo, of the soul sleeping, waiting for the trump of God. In a three day span, the Son had not yet ascended to the Father, and I think it not possible for Paradise to be missing the presence of the Father.
No, Jesus was tempted/tormented by Satan during his 40-day fast in the desert at the beginning of His 3-year ministry, quite alive at the age 30. He, the first Adam, overcame those temptations at that time, as created Adam failed to do, and thus proved that He, indeed, was the sinless and pure Lamb of God. When He descended into hell, after his death, as mentioned in the Apostles Creed, it was to speak to those believing souls who were resting in the “Bosom of Abraham” telling them that the promise given to Adam and Eve, on the day of their fall, had been fulfilled. The devil had no part of this, he was not present in that part of hell (described as the Bosom of Abraham in one of His parables) where the souls of godly men and women dwelt. Those old testament saints were subsequently taken into paradise.
Agree... Parable of the rich man... This born again theology is not Scriptural... Each soul/spirit is given the opportunity to take a flesh journey. At the end of that flesh journey, the flesh returns to the dust from whence it came... The soul/spirit returns to the Maker that sent the soul/spirit at conception...
The Mount of transfiguration demonstrated that the soul/spirit body looks like the flesh body.
Thank you for the video clip. That is definitely a misinterpretation of the Scripture. JESUS descended into the Bosom of Abraham in VICTORY!
They DO???
âwent to Hell and was worked over by the Devilâ?
So; you've noticed it too...
It DID?
That's correct.
I've met numerous people who claim to have *accepted* Christ who never showed any spiritual growth at all in the least, and yet, because they allegedly prayed a sinner's prayer and maybe had an experience in getting knocked down (or dropping) at a Pentecostal *revival* service, they are told they are saved.
One must confess with their mouth AND believe in their heart.
Sure, Jesus can heal you, give you lots of money, make your life great, want to accept Him? Who wouldn't for those kinds of benefits? And there were crowds who followed Jesus here on earth and heard Him speak Himself with their own lips, who followed Him only for the free food handouts.
But if you really don't see your need for Him and believe Him for SALVATION, then simply professing Him because it sounds like a sweet deal, I doubt is going to save anyone.
Mouth profession alone is not enough. The Pharisees professed to know God.
And I agree that what he said to the thief.....but you have John 20:17 “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father.....spoke after the 3 days when he was resurrected
According to Solomon, in Ecclesiastes 12:6-8 (only going to type verse 7) Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it...
Moses and Elijah’s flesh bodies most certainly returned to ‘dust’, and their ‘soul/spirit return to the Maker who sent it.
This ‘born again’ is junk Bible... Born from above is what Christ taught.. just like He partook of a flesh body Hebrews 2:14.
I am sorry that I don’t have the time or the know how right now to post the links, but if you do a search on “Jesus in hell for three days heresy”, you will find several.
There is one link for Joyce Meyers that links to clips to her saying this.

You’re welcome.
My understanding is that Jesus went to Hades and preached to those imprisoned there and then led those in there out.
I agree that if the work of redemption was not completed on the cross, then it is saying the cross isn’t good enough.
I have some friends who seem to be solid Christians, at least HE does - his wife is another story, that years after becoming Christians got into the Word of Faith movement. I really don’t doubt he’s saved but can’t help but wonder what getting sucked into Word of Faith theology is doing to his walk with Christ. Seems like he’s still struggling with stuff he should have dealt with by now and sometimes contradicts himself about what he tells you he believes.
I just don’t see how someone can reconcile belief in the sovereignty of God with the name it and claim it, your words have creative power just like God’s, kind of thinking.
I’m no fan of Joyce Mayer, by any means but the last I heard she has since dropped this notion unless she has picked it up again.
I completely agree with everything except this.
“Those old testament saints were subsequently taken into paradise.”
Paradise was Abraham’s bosom that’s why Jesus said today you will be with me in paradise. Jesus then led the OT saints to Heaven making him the first fruit. Every since then when a believer dies they go straight to Heaven.
Ephesians 4:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
2 Corinthians 5:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
I’ve listened to some of her teachings and read some of her materials and you can go through a lot of it and not find a thing wrong with it.
Then every once in a while some doozy like this comes along and you have to wonder just what exactly is going on.
That said, there’s not a person on the planet that I agree with 100% on everything. Even Tozer has said some things I just have to shake my head over, wondering if he really meant it the way it sounds.
Food for thought, Satan has never experienced Hell. He’s selling a product that he has no idea of.
Job 2:2 King James Version (KJV)
2 And the Lord said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
Revelation 20:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
