Why the March for Life is becoming a destination for more evangelicals

Jim Daly is president of Focus on the Family, one of the country’s biggest and best-known evangelical organizations, a group that considers opposing abortion one of its very top values. Yet Friday will be the first time Daly has come to Washington for the huge March for Life, the country’s biggest antiabortion event each year. March attendees are always overwhelmingly Catholic, but this year an influx of evangelicals will be joining them on the Mall.

Daly co-sponsored the brand-new Evangelicals for Life event, held Thursday and Friday, part of an effort to refocus a generation of young Christian conservatives who have been brought up to prioritize opposition to same-sex marriage, terrorism and, more recently, immigration.

I was there in 1994. I was 17. I picked a fight with Representative Volkmer over his support for FOCA during his speech to the Missouri delegates.

Good for the evangelicals.

They finally are admitting that Catholics are right about pro-life.

God Bless the Catholics and the Evangelicals who are doing the pro-life march in D.C. today.

Also safe travels back, as D.C. to NYC is going to get hit with a major snow storm.

“Finally admitting”?

What are you talking about?

There are many evangelical Christian crisis pregnancy centers, for instance.

And most evangelical leaders have always been pro-life.

And even moreso, the reason there’s any serious political opposition at all to abortion in America is because of evangelical Christians.

During the sixties and seventies, there were some in evangelical leadership who ended up revealing themselves to be who they are by pushing for acceptance of abortion in the church. They were either thrown out shortly, or made to keep silent and quietly work their heresies. There’s not always anything to be done about the ones quietly working against God’s Word while pretending to be faithful. But the ones who outright were in rebellion had to either repent or leave.

From what I’ve seen, too, the reason why “pro-life” work is often done by Catholics is that it seems to be their “niche” in defense of the Bible. In every other way, Catholics on the whole are supporting the world. That’s why highly Catholic states are overwhelmingly pro-Democrat, pro-abortion, and were mostly the ones that paved the way for gay marriage. But if Catholics are going to take up the role of being pro-life, there is no that leaves everything else in the defense of God’s Word needing to be done, and those things are mostly done by evangelicals.
