Moscow, January 22, Interfax - The topic of a possible burial of Lenin is not presently on the Kremlin's agenda, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.

"There is no such question, neither in the field of discussions, nor in the field of some applied arguments and preparations. This issue is not on the agenda at all," he told reporters.

He was responding to requests to comment on the remarks made by President Vladimir Putin earlier on Thursday, in which he criticized the actions and ideas of the leader of the revolution which in his view eventually led historical Russia into ruin.

I do not understand this fetish about keeping the body of a dead...whatever, above ground and preserved for all to....see?

Yuck, it’s plain morbid thing to do. Just put him into the ground, give it a nice marker and call it history.

There is very little left of the original body anyway. If left to its own devices, it would crumble in a matter of weeks. And high time.

It is in his case a form of religious worship. He is in the pantheon of communist gods and the faithful need an object to focus on. It is the same with Mao and others.

Remember when Christopher Buckley (William F’s son) wrote that satirical magazine article, saying Lenin’s body was going on tour to raise cash for the almost bankrupt Soviet Union? And Peter Jennings reported it on ABC news as straight news? And then Jennings had to admit that a.) he’d plagiarized the story, and b.) he’d been too dumb to catch on that it was satire?
That was a hoot.
