1. When you get down to it, the Pope merely asked for dialogue with other faiths; nothing new.

2. Certainly today, with so much sectarian violence, that has to be a good thing.

3. The imagery is not part of the Pope's intentions, so nobody should be excited about it.

4. For all we know, the Pope read a script that was spliced in post-production into a series of images he knew nothing about.

5. Nothing in the video is contrary to the New Evangelization, which respects differences and works through attraction.

6. "Love" is a good thing to believe in. God is love. To object is to promote Hate. Love is the answer to the radicalization of Christian fundamentalists.

7. Pope Francis' comment about the one certainty "for all" being that we are all children of God just means that that is the common denominator of all religions. The Pope never said that that is the only certainty for the Catholic Church.

8. Pope Francis is merely carrying on the interfaith mission of his two predecessors, one of whom is a saint.

9. A video is not part of the magisterium of the Church. By all means pray for the intentions (required for an indulgence), and if the video works for you, fine, and if not, that's fine, too. It is merely an illustration of the Pope's quite ordinary intentions.

The fascination with dialogue for dialogue's sake is indeed nothing new. Since it has no goal, it cannot ever be said to have failed. But it allows people who have nothing useful to do to look busy and important. However, whenever the Bear hears the word "dialogue," he reaches for his revolver.

The video will have no impact on sectarian violence. Some teenager in Afghanistan chilling on opium milk while watching beheading videos on deathtotheinfidel.org is not going to accidentally see this video on YouTube and say to himself, "Wow, my heart is full of love." No, he's going to say, "I wish I could kill all those bastards."

Here's the problem. The people who are willing to dialogue with you are not potential suicide bombers. And the suicide bombers aren't listening to the people willing to dialogue with you. Furthermore, dialogue is dangerous, because Catholics always want to dialogue and agree a bit more than the people they are dialoguing with. Therefore, they're always willing to trade truth for a photo op. It's the greatest scam in the history of the Church, and it's scamming itself.

Fun facts: 90% of information processed by the brain is visual. Visuals are processed 60,000 times faster than text. Viewers are 85% more likely to purchase a product after viewing a video. Presenters who use visual aids are 45% more likely to persuade their audience.

Here's an example. If you're a trial lawyer, you had better have a Power Point presentation ready for closing argument. That's just the way it is these days. Lawyers know they are significantly more persuasive with visuals, and the better courtrooms have all the necessary equipment installed.

Look at WWII propaganda. Text is minimal. The image is everything. No posters were distributed with nothing but block letters BUY WAR BONDS on a white background.

Do you think this image created an emotional response in people with men fighting overseas?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Papal propaganda designed to promote the heresy of indifferentism.

Motion pictures proved to be the most effective method of propaganda. Leni Riefenstahl was the master of German propaganda. The infamous 1935 Triumph of Will lives on, despite it's Nazi theme. It's on YouTube and worth watching for historical and educational purposes only. It lives on in movies. From Star Wars's imperial pomp, to actually putting Indiana Jones in the Nuremberg rally that Riefenstahl so masterfully captured.

The technique in the Pope's intentions video of having different people repeating the same phrase goes right back to Hitler's favorite movie. Someone has done a very short, but interesting comparison of Triumph of the Will and Paul Verhoeven's Starship Troopers.

Pope Francis' video is very well-produced propaganda in the deliberate service of a heresy. Make no mistake, Pope Francis knowingly and willfully doing his best to lead innocent souls into the same heresy of indifferentism that has corrupted him. Let's get real, Jimmy. It's all about the propaganda video, not the intentions. Leni Riefenstahl would approve.

The New Evangelization is a con job and you know it. The Church isn't interested because people like Pope Francis have departed from the truth and believe that, unlike the Old Evangelization, other people no longer need the Church.

It is not a matter of taking or leaving the videos. Of course the Bear has left them. The problem is that it is presenting a false view of Christianity to a wide audience, backed up by the authority of the Pope. It portrays all religions as equal, and collectively as some sort of unified New Age Love Cult. It carefully ignores what makes Christianity different. It is indifferentism on steroids and Pope Francis is banging the drum for it. Jo

"I believe in Love," is different from actually loving, isn't it? Love is a gift from one person to another, not something "out there" that one looks to for inspiration. The Bear supposes it could be repaired to make sense, but that wouldn't be punchy and effective. Besides, we're not supposed to be thinking about any of this. It's propaganda. Inspiring visuals and short, phrases.

Here's a similarly vapid video from 1971. But at least Coca-Cola can say it's the real thing. Pope Francis says, "Coke is good, but so is Pepsi, Sprite and Dr. Pepper. People just have different tastes."

For the Pope to say "There is only one certainty we have for all. We are all children of God," is so dumbed-down it cannot even be called Catholic. It is trite, feel-good nonsense untethered from the Catholic faith. At this point, however, what does one expect? While it is true that we are all made in the image of God, the Church has always required more to be adopted as children of God. (Not to mention we know much real truth with certainly.)

The Bear offers an extensive supply of quotes that say what a child of God really is. He apologizes for its length, but the Bear wants to thoroughly maul the Pope's poisonous propaganda.

What do we make of this? "But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12-13 RSV) Receive, believe, then you are given power to become children of God.

Apparently, not everyone is a child of God. Christians are distinguished from "a crooked and perverse generation." Were the terrorists in San Bernardino children of God? A satanist desecrating a host? Pol Pot? Pharaoh in Genesis? The men of Sodom? Charles Manson? Osama bin Laden?

Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. (Philippians 2:14-16 RSV)

"See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him." (1 John 3:1 RSV)

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says "He who believes in Christ becomes a son of God."

And, finally, there is this reminder, from the beginning of the Catechism. This is what it's all about. Not dialogue. Not slick propaganda videos. Not pretend unity. Not scripted platitudes. It's about each individual's response to Jesus Christ and entering the unity of His family, the Church.

He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life. Catholic Church. (2000).
