Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Character Studies From The Bible
Paul
(Paul's Letter to The Romans)
12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.
(Romans 12)

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem”
Does anyone know what that means, considering Jerusalem has never had peace. The Romans completely destroyed the original city.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

All of Paul's Heritage, Training, Education, and Religion were based upon a sacrificial system of atonement. The Great Temple in Jerusalem, which was the center of Worship, sacrificed a huge number of creatures every day in accordance with the Torah. The shedding of Blood for reconciliation was an integral part of the Covenant Relationship which Israel had with God, and goes back to the hide garments God made for Adam and Eve. And, of course, the Blood shed on Calvary, for the Forgiveness of sin, was the Cornerstone of Paul's Theology.
Yet, here, Paul urges a revolutionary concept in the Ancient World. He tells Believers to present themselves as LIVING Sacrifices to the Creator of the Universe. In this, he tells the people to live and move and have their very thoughts, souls, and Being in tune and dedicated to God as completely as if one were a lamb being slain upon an altar. Another way of saying this is that we are to "Die to Self" and put aside all selfish motives, so that we can be totally dedicated to the One Who saved us.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

We are quoting Psalm 126, and being in obedience, but although this has been the title of the thread for six years, we pray for Israel, America, for those who are persecuted in the middle east, and have a nice Bible Study as well.
And we all know what happened in 70AD.
Welcome, if you would like to stay and pray with us, otherwise, please remember the rules on FR regarding debate on a Prayer Thread.
thanks.
