.
The reading materials that mattered were readily available.
There was a Torah scroll in every synagogue, and the ones in large towns probably had the complete Tanakh.
The NT epistles were the internet forums of the day, discussing the scrolls and their application.
Those weren't fake people, they were eyewitnesses to a miracle!
Good grief, the only bibles in existence at the time were precious hand written (by Monks)virtually no one other than royalty, ultra-wealthy, and libraries could afford them.....Just how could the church have gotten them to the laity?....They did try somewhat through statues, pictures, stained glass windows and the like, but of course the revolutionists busted up most of that stuff.....sigh, read a history book please.
I deflected NOTHING...I pointed out that Jesus gave the priest the authority to forgive sin. Did He not say "whose sins that you shall forgive, THEY ARE FORGIVEN????
Music....dress....OSAS....
You said 30,000 but all you can come up with is three??? So you tell other Catholics not to get involved in Protestant churches because they are so divided they have more than 30,000 different denominations and all you can come up with is three???
You obviously didn't pay attention in English class either or you would understand apparent exaggeration...it points out an inane point that you were trying somehow to make.
No it isn't...intercourse does not end up outside of the woman....that's what onanism is.
If you say so....those BILLIONS of Christians who existed up until the revolution must have had it all wrong....good thing the dissidents came along to straighten them out.......sigh.
Good Morning to All?
Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
That's where the Catholics cut the verse(s) off but Jesus wasn't done speaking...
but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Can't deny Jesus said it...Catholics pretend it's not there...But it is...
The answer falls under II Tim 2:15...
You really have not a clue do you! Right in the epistles there is the direction to share the letters with the believers! Even if only one or two in an ekklesia could read the Greek the others could listen. Really, old man, you should try to make halfway intelligent assertions, even if you can’t stand the truth.
Ah, so you're trolling the guy, are you?
Now it all makes sense.
But I think the meaning of one of the scripture passages you must be alluding to was more along lines of a provisional "if" (such as when Paul was not deliberately handling a snake when a known-to-be venomous snake bit him while he was tending a fire, after a shipwreck, yet Paul simply shook the snake off his hand and went about his business like nothing happened) not that one should go out of their way to tempt snakes, more generally speaking.
Then again, some of the characters around this place can be like snakes --- slithering around, full of venom, searching always for a this, or that to sink fangs into. The heat of the fire --figuratively speaking-- makes them become heated, so then they strike at whatever movement is closest.
I seem to recall having been bitten numerous times by those critters. In the end, it only made me stronger, though if I didn't have within me faith that God Himself authored over a span of many years, and through more than a few miraculous encounters with Him, and instead my own be only a weaker kind of faith, I think it would have died by now...
Catholicism was founded by Christ, on the apostles.....the EXACT year is up for grabs....Pope Gregory established the present calendar which is pretty accurate but day 1 is certainly controversial. It doesn't matter, Christ established the Catholic church for all mankind to avail itself of.....some did, some didn't.....very sad.
Sigh....you go on and on with your diatribe...an annulment means that a church court has declared that the marriage, for a variety of reasons, could not have been legitimate in the first place.....and you know it.
A Catholic history book??? Shirley you jest...
There weren't any Catholic monks around at that time because there were no Catholics...Druids, maybe...
For 300 years the disciples were copying the scriptures as fast as they could and they were being passed around the churches of the Mid-East...300 Years...That's quite a stretch of time...People were copying and others were learning to read from the scriptures...
Good grief.....
LOL...
Isis (/Ëaɪsɪs/; Ancient Greek: á¼¾ÏÎ¹Ï IPA: [îË.sis]; original Egyptian pronunciation more likely "Aset" or "Iset"[1]) is a goddess from the polytheistic pantheon of Egypt. She was first worshiped in Ancient Egyptian religion, and later her worship spread throughout the Roman empire and the greater Greco-Roman world. Isis is still widely worshiped by many pagans today in diverse religious contexts; including a number of distinct pagan religions, the modern Goddess movement, and interfaith organizations such as the Fellowship of Isis.
Isis was worshipped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the patroness of nature and magic. She was the friend of slaves, sinners, artisans and the downtrodden, but she also listened to the prayers of the wealthy, maidens, aristocrats and rulers.[2] Isis is often depicted as the mother of Horus, the falcon-headed deity associated with king and kingship (although in some traditions Horus's mother was Hathor). Isis is also known as protector of the dead and goddess of children.
The name Isis means "Throne".[3] Her headdress is a throne. As the personification of the throne, she was an important representation of the pharaoh's power. The pharaoh was depicted as her child, who sat on the throne she provided. Her cult was popular throughout Egypt, but her most important temples were at Behbeit El-Hagar in the Nile delta, and, beginning in the reign with Nectanebo I (380â362 BCE), on the island of Philae in Upper Egypt.
In the typical form of her myth, Isis was the first daughter of Geb, god of the Earth, and Nut, goddess of the Sky, and she was born on the fourth intercalary day. She married her brother, Osiris, and she conceived Horus with him. Isis was instrumental in the resurrection of Osiris when he was murdered by Set. Using her magical skills, she restored his body to life after having gathered the body parts that had been strewn about the earth by Set.[4]
This myth became very important during the Greco-Roman period. For example, it was believed that the Nile River flooded every year because of the tears of sorrow which Isis wept for Osiris. Osiris's death and rebirth was relived each year through rituals. The worship of Isis eventually spread throughout the Greco-Roman world, continuing until the suppression of paganism in the Christian era.[5] The popular motif of Isis suckling her son Horus, however, lived on in a Christianized context as the popular image of Mary suckling her infant son Jesus from the fifth century onward.[6]
100% of the time?
Good grief??? Do you deny the bible says that???
