In his book "The Roads of Home-Lanes and Legends of New Jersey" from 1956. Chapter 3, titled "New Jersey's Sodoms." I shortened it. He actually writes .."it would appear safe to conclude that both Sodom and Gomorrah,singled out for punishment on those who practiced an abominable vice as a religious rite,vanished in a storm of meteoric stones which set fire to the bitumen or pitch with which their soil had been saturated."
