Who owns the statue?
If the city owns it, then I don't consider it to be Sacred. So it can't be desecrated.I disagree entirely. Ownership is not a governing principle in any such case as this ...
"This is my tarbaby, so I can spit on it all I want." ... Yeah.

Don’t assume I’m a Catholic. My basic beliefs may be very different from yours. Which is OK by me. I don’t tell you what to believe....
To: dr_lew
My point is somewhat different. I do not believe that God would allow something which is Holy to be owned by a Satanist. So, if he owns it, then it isn’t Holy.

What’s the supposed old Chinese epithet? “May you live in interesting times.”

If you follow this line of thinking, it’s a retreat from the world into your own mind. Historically, of course, the Church did not quail at the idea of enforcing its standards upon the world in real terms. Far from it.

In the 1850s, at the height of the Know Nothing movement, Bishop Hughes warned the anti-Catholic mayor of New York that if Nativist mobs destroyed Catholic churches, the city's Catholics would turn New York into another Moscow, alluding to Napoleon burning that city in 1812. In the 1920s, Catholic resistance to Ku Klux Klan activities led to riots, including the one in Queens, NY, in which Donald Trump's father was somehow involved. Resistance is necessary, whether against 19th Century nativists or 21st Century Satanists.

They don’t need rifles. If they showed up with sticks and stones, or spit and jello...if they just SHOWED UP with something more than “respectful pleas”, they could stop this crap.
Run this guy off the street, and don’t stop until they have to take people away from City Hall in cuffs. Next time, the puny political types will think twice before they incite Catholics.

Yes. It’s a shame that the Cathars didn’t have a Second Amendment. And....uh....firearms ;-)
But Francis ain’t Innocent III and Oklahoma City ain’t Languedoc.

Hmm...maybe we SHOULD notify the mohammadens. According to them Jesus is a prophet and Mary is His Mother.
Bring popcorn.

It's called hyperbole, if Catholics started killing people in anger over something like this they really wouldn't be Catholics anymore now would they..........oh unless they were liberal abortion proponents, then they would think they were still Catholics.

Clearly this dolt need to be strongly persuaded to change his mind. Any Catholic Marines living there?

I signed the petition. This statue behind the church of Jesus weeping seems appropriate for how low our society has sunk.
To: vladimir998
Yeah maybe you could shoot his ear off.
Like Peter at the betrayal of Jesus.
Put down the guns, it’s a spiritual battle.

They wouldn’t even need rifles. These kinds of people are cowards to the heart and a huge showing of glowering, praying, picture taking people would scare them right off.

I didn’t.
“My basic beliefs may be very different from yours.”
Undoubtedly.
“Which is OK by me. I donât tell you what to believe....”
And you shouldn’t. But I will tell you what is true and what isn’t if that’s known. It doesn’t matter if you like it or not. Truth is still truth even if someone rejects it.

It is a spiritual battle - but spiritual battles are also fought with material things. There were ships and men at the Battle of Lepanto not just rosaries.

I think they’re bringing their own statue: “Set up of the display will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the display must be dismantled by 6:15 p.m., the permit states.” - http://newsok.com/article/5467358
