There’s a War on Christmas and Christmas is Losing
The Christian Diarist ^ | November 29, 2015 | JP

Today is the first day of Advent, which marks the start of the pre-Christmas season. It is observed by many, if not most, of the Catholic faithful. And it is in popularity among Protestants, particularly those of us who count ourselves evangelical Christians.

Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas and ends on Christmas Eve. During that four-week period, the Christian faithful prepare for the commemoration of the birth of Christ. Satan hates Advent. That’s because he wants to take the “Christ” out of Christmas. He doesn’t want Christmas to be a Godly “holy-day.” Rather, his aim is to reduce the birth of Christ to an unGodly, secularized “holiday,” on a par with, say, Halloween.

And, lamentably, Satan and his minions have largely succeeded in hijacking Christmas.

Indeed, no longer is Christmas a celebration of Christ’s birth, but the worship of Mammon. It begins the day after Thanksgiving, which is aptly named Black Friday. It is a day of orgiastic buying and selling in America’s temples of commerce.

Meanwhile, the evil one’s useful idiots have driven Christ out of the public square during Christmas.

That begins at the White House, where the president of the United States, who claims to be a Christian, sends out Christmas cards that do not mention Christ. Like last year, when the White House Christmas card featured the Obama Family’s two dogs – rather than, say, the Virgin Mary and the Christ child – with the secularist message:

“In this wondrous season, may the spirit of the holidays bring you strength and happiness.”

And Obama is not the only elected official doing the work of the devil; taking the Christ out of Christmas.

In 2014, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio declared that New York City public schools could no longer have holiday concerts featuring songs in which the lyric “Christmas” was sung. “I don’t hate Christmas,” de Blasio claimed, “but it’s not about me, it’s about the thousands of children that don’t celebrate Christmas, and could find it offensive.”

Then there are the atheists, and their sympathizers, who use the courts to attack Christmas.

That’s what happened this past April when a three-judge panel of the liberal Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco outlawed the Nativity scenes depicted on large dioramas in Santa Monica, California’s Palisades Park.

Those dioramas had been erected in the park every Christmas season since the 1950s.

That’s why the redeemed of the Lord should stand up for Christmas during Advent. For the Word of God promises that if we resist the Devil, he will flee from us.

And the thing that we need to do, because as a Christian we know this is coming, is to attend Church, because that is the Holy Place to bring us peace while we think of the things Jesus has taught us, and we need to ‘partake of His body and His blood’ and to pray every morning and every night and let Him know we are with Him ....

Doing this will make us stronger to fight the battle we are starting to fight, if we don’t do this, then we are not strong enough....

Atheists celebrate Christmas. De Blasio is talking about the nameless, faceless people who don’t celebrate Christmas, like Muslims.

Didn’t say December 25 was a holy day. Maintained that the day on which Jesus was born was a holy day. And didn’t anywhere use the words “sacred tradition.” But will continue to defend Christmas from those who make a mockery of the birth of the Savior.

Bah Humbug....

My family loves it all and we have plenty and more of Christ in our Christmas....good thing that God looks at the heart of men ....else all those “pagan” decorations and shopping to “give” gifts of Joy....would doom us all!

I second your suggestion.
First, we can say, “Mery Christmas” to those we meet. Secondly, we can pray for those people who seem to be grumpy and into the things of the world.
Third, we need to keep ourselves in the state of grace — so if one is Catholic, they will be going to Confession during the Advent season.

God bless.

Even the churches can often be off the mark of what we're celebrating.....Last year I went to a service that darn near blew my eardrums....the band acted and sang like a rock group so loud you couldn't even hear what they were singing....it was all about their performance...certainly not worshiping the King of Kings....and tucked in the back of the stage was a manger scene you couldn't see for the smoke running across the stage! It was awful!

Then I had to sit through the Pastor
s bragging about all the “satellite” churches they had opened and the grandness of it all.....the last fifteen minutes there was mention of the birth of Christ so subtle if you weren't listening you would have missed it!/p>

...it's mostly a pagan winter holiday. All decorations in stores are pagan. Trees with lights are pagan...

Not really. Martin Luther took over pagan holidays to intensify the celebration of the Christ Mass since many people were celebrating pagan holidays at that time. Luther invented the Christmas Tree, lock, stock, and barrel. He also invented bowling.

Well how about if Christians take back Christmas as a religious holiday and forego the commercial schlock? No malls, no presents aside from family members, no parties outside of home or church

Let nonChristians enjoy their triumph with empty meaningless parties and shopping sprees

Oh and how about a December 25 th becoming a workday and school day. No reason for atheists and nonChristians to have a “ holiday” if they are contemptuous of the “ holi” part

"Just where in the Bible (Jewish or chrstian) is the 25th of December established as a holy day? If you're going to start invoking post-Biblical "sacred tradition" as authoritative, then you can't be much of an evangelical."

Amen!
