These eight bands may not have the Christian Rock label but biblical themes and their Christian faith are at the root of much of their music.
1. Lenny Kravitz
American rock singer-songwriter, Lenny Kravitz is a devout Christian and his spirituality transcends not only in the spiritual themes of his music but also in his personal life he committed to remain celibate for years and has a cross tattoo on his back as a reminder of his faith. Did you know Kravitzs song Are You Gonna Go My Way? is about Jesus?
2. U2
From the Bono led Irish rock bands start, U2 has been passionate about their faith to the point where it even challenged the groups future. Many believed Christianity and rock music could not be married, bringing to the surface the question whether Christian faith could live in the secular rock world. Even through the debate, the band not only didnt lose their religion, their music is a powerful example of spirituality meeting beautiful music.
3. Switchfoot

From the beginning, P.O.D. which stands for Payable on Death have been representatives of Christ and share their personal testimonies in their music and on tour. sports more poetic sense and spiritual insight than most rock bands currently on the traditional Christian circuit."
Lenny Kravitz?
Seriously?
I had no idea, but if so, that is pretty cool.
Lenny is arguably the coolest cat on the planet.
You shall know them by their works. Matt. 7:16.
Interesting article. Some how I can’t decide where Kings of Leon’’s “Sex Is On Fire” fits :)
Here some Christian artists I listen to. Bill Mallonee/Vigilantes of Love, Mark Heard, Steven Taylor/Chagal Guevara, The Vespers, Poema, Buddy Miller.
Wow.... I must completely out of the loop....
I know only two of the bands by name...
Of course who doesn’t know who U2 is ?
So really it’s one band...
RE: Some how I cant decide where Kings of Leons Sex Is On Fire fits :)
Just read some passages from the Bible — Old Testament — Song of Solomon.
I think Steve Taylor is one of the cleverest lyricists of all time. It’s too bad more people are not exposed to his wordplay.
And let’s not forget the O.C. Supertones!
I knew about Lifehouse. Evanescence surprised me.
Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson of Megadeth are both Christians.
Prov1322, meet PlateOfShrimp.
Even more surprising given that his father was Jewish.
Bob Dylan
I’ll tell you what, if he is truly remaining celibate when I’m sure he has constant opportunity, that is a pretty strong testimony to his faith.
And hot.
;)
That list is also 6 bands I’ve never heard of. I kinda like Lenny but Bono is still a bonehead.
Aeon’s Promise is an eclectic Christian band
And his mother, Roxie Roker, played a black woman married to a white man on The Jeffersons.
C’mon what have you got against Bono? He recognizes that property rights and a free market are the way out of poverty for African nations, and however bleeding-heart the cause seems on the surface, when it’s being furthered by expanding real liberty, it’s a good cause.
