Perhaps he should let the congregation decide............nah!
What is the issue in regards to this sculpture?
Kind of hard to say saving the church is a miracle while allowing thousands to die in the WTC
I’m unclear on your question.
Looks like article at the WSJ.com site requires a subscription in order to read the full article.
Well that tree ended up taking the debris that came from the two towers as they both came down. Sad as it was, because 3,000 died that day, yet St. Paul’s Church was spared. It served as the place which people who worked to clear away the debris came for support in the months afterwards.
It’s massively ugly.

Just Go ogle the title and click the link. You can read it for free via that path.
Thank-you and God Bless!
I wouldn’t want to walk up on that thing some night after a few adult beverages!
Creepy and threatening looking...
Hm. I didn’t notice that, but know the WSJ has had that requirement. I did get access to the article a couple of times, but now when I just tried again, it’s stopping me too. Maybe because I followed the Free Republic link that time?
This is the sculpture:

The article says that the new Episcopal rector dislikes it and apparently is determined to have it moved, since the artist is being encouraged to think about other places for it. The 9/11 museum doesn’t want it either.

Something I wonder about this sycamore tree is if it might actually have been around during the time of the nation’s founding in 1789, when George Washington led the prayer meeting of the government in the chapel. In researching on sycamores with regards to the Isaiah 9 connection, I read sycamores can live hundreds of years. I also just saw a short (20 minute) video from the artist which starts with him receiving the roots and ends with the 2005 installation. He mentions that the clearing of dirt around the roots must be done with special care because the tree was in a cemetery and they could, as he put, find bone from three hundreds years of inhabitants. That doesn’t mean the tree is that old, but it made me think again of the question and wonder if anyone knows for sure its age.
WHO allowing thousands to die in the WTC?
We are mortal. We die. Quit blaming God.
Thank-you! Was able to read it!
This weekend, saw online what the elevator that takes you up to the 102nd floor of the new tower number 1 in NYC. When one takes that elevator, one sees the history of the skyline of NYC from the early 1500’s until it shows the building of the building itself to the year 2015 when it opens up.
This is what I had seen online yesterday.
