It is not an easy thing to "disappear" these days. Every time you put a credit card into a gas pump, or use it to buy food, your position is noted. Surveillance cameras are everywhere, and even if you avoid them, the GPS in your cell phone is always sending out a signal.

Yet, Jonah thought he could hide from God! Sometimes a call from God rubs us the wrong way. There was no question that the people of Nineveh were wicked, and not deserving of redemption...but then again, WHO IS?

Sometimes the very people that God calls us to serve give us the willies, but to run away from the task is a great sin in and of itself, as Jonah is about to find out.
