A young friend from Church lost her Dad last night.
She is on an 11 month mission trip to Africa and other countries and will not be able to attend the funeral.
It's extremely painful to lose a parent-even if they weren't really "there" for you. (It's like part of you dies with them.)
I can say that your life will never again be the same. But you won't always hurt like you do today, and in the days and months ahead, either. The pain does get bearable with time.
For now-Let yourself feel it-"Let it out"-as the saying goes.
Prayers for your brother that he be comforted and not blame himself (We all have to go through death's door, one way or another.) Your dad has gone home to where he is supposed to be-With our Lord in heaven.
God comfort and keep you and your family.
Prayers for you and your family.
So sad. Praying right now.
I will be praying for Mary, her Mom, Dad and family.
Lord Jesus Christ our blessed Redeemer, rest the soul of Mary’s dad, Thy servant.
Comfort his family: his wife, Mary his daughter, and also Gunner, Tom and Kristen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
May God bless you, and give strength in trials, both to you, and to those whom you love! Prayers up!
Prayers.
Prayers.
Thank you for all of your prayers and kind thoughts for Mary and her family.
I have not heard back from her. She is in Africa and can not always get the internet.
I am sure that she will feel blessed from all of your prayers and thoughts.
Peace be with you.
So sorry about this loss. Also about Mary — I totally understand.
When my husband was dying I had to call my daughter back from a foreign exchange trip a couple of months early. It was easy for me or for her.
Thank you for your prayers for Mary and her family. She is on a mission trip to 11 countries in 11 months called World Race. She has recently graduated from college and is spending this year on a mission trip for our Lord. I met her during our parish Christian Formation - Family Program. She has been inspired by the parish mission programs and truly wants to help others.
I have not heard any further news, but access to internet is not always available.
If you would like to follow her trip, her blog:

The World Race continues to change. It is expanding overseas and in the States, yet its foundations stay the same. It is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. It facilitates discipleship through the process of discovering into the abundant life He promised. It births partnerships with ministries around the world. It requires Luke 10-like faith.
We’re calling you out of your comfort zone and giving you exposure to what God is doing in the world before you commit to the American dream. Because it’s not about you, it’s about the Kingdom.
Thank you for your help and concern. Sorry to hear that your family had to deal with a similar situation.
Also thank you for spreading the Word of God through all your postings on FR. I enjoy reading as many as I can and having many references.
May God Bless you.
