...[T]he Boy Scouts of America voted to admit openly gay adults into the organization to hold leadership positions. While there are indications that the BSA has a religious organization exception, which each local troop could invoke, that will provide no protection for any of our parishes and/or schools, which sponsor troops. Thus, effective immediately, the Catholic Church of the Diocese of Bismarck and each and every one of its parishes, schools and other institutions, is formally disaffiliated with and from the Boy Scouts of America. If your parish sponsors a troop, your priest has been asked to inform those persons associated with the BSA of this action and to inform the BSA itself of this decision. I regret my decision but, in conscience as the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Bismarck, I cannot permit our Catholic institutions to accept and participate directly or indirectly in any organization, which has policies and methods, which contradict the authoritative moral teachings of the Catholic Church.

We know they are never satisfied with supposed "gains" they make. They always want to take it to the next level so I predict that the homos aren't just going to linger in the background quietly. As more and more parents refuse to put their boys in harms way and the membership shrinks, more and more homos will be encouraged to participate. They are going to turn BSA into a massive homo advocacy organization with merit badges for tolerance, so-called safe-sex, and every other unspeakable depravity.

Throw in all the Protestant troops which won't kow-tow to the GAYstapo either and it will be over half their membership gone.

As a former Boy Scout, Eagle Scout and from a family of former scouts and scout leaders, I commend these religious organizations for standing up for their core beliefs. It used to be that the BSA had the same core principles, "morally straight", but they have caved to the political correct Left and opened the doors to the gay's Pandora's Box.
In 2000, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the BSA and said that they could decide who to allow in for members and leaders and they were within their constitution rights to do so. So why, over a decade later, has the BSA buckled to the gay pride lobby? They have lost membership, sponsorships and funding over this debacle. I know this is of little consolation, but they have lost me and my family's support, as well.
Is nothing sacred anymore? Is the entire world need to turn upside down because a minuscule minority whines foul? The gays have their gay marriage now, which the Supreme Court "legislated". Now just leave the Christians and heterosexuals alone. We want nothing more to do with your perversions.
My daughter does American Heritage Girls. Quite good, dominated by the classing badge-earning(!) structure.
At her mother’s insistence, she’s also been doing Girl Scouts, which is little more than crafts & games and getting patches for showing up at amusing events.
