NEW HAVEN, Conn. — As Christians continue to face unprecedented persecution — especially in the Middle East — the Knights of Columbus have announced a new campaign to send humanitarian aid and raise awareness about their plight.
“Pope Francis has urged the international community to take action to help Christians in the Middle East, and as an organization that has long supported victims of religious persecution, the Knights of Columbus is responding by asking our own members, and the public at large, to help us save the lives of people who are being persecuted simply because of their Christian faith,” Supreme Knight Carl Anderson said in a July 24 press release.
The details of the new program will be announced at an Aug. 4-6 international convention in Philadelphia, but for now, a television commercial has begun airing nationally to raise awareness about the plight of Christians in the Middle East.
The Knights launched their Christian Refugee Relief Fund last August, with a $1-million matching fund, but the need for support still remains great today. To date, the organization and its members have given more than $3 million in support of the cause.
In her July 22 article for The New York Times Magazine, “Is This The End of Christianity in the Middle East?” Eliza Oswold cited a Pew study that said that Christians are now facing more persecution “than at any time since their early history.”
Anderson voiced his concern over the lack of attention given to the issue saying, “Christians in the Middle East are facing a dire situation — and even extinction — while the response from the international community has been woefully inadequate.”

Send guns. Without guns the humanitarian aid will just be seized from the Christians by the muslims.
Aren’t the KOC always supposed to be armed?
Are they going in there to fight?
I do believe there are now Christian militas that have stepped up to the plate.
THAT is who I would prefer to send my donations to!

Thank you! They just got $20 from me on PayPal!
God bless them!
Israel should take over more of its Biblical land grant. This will not only help her protect her people from the incessant IslamoNazi terrorist threats and attacks (with more now to be financed by Obama’s $150 Billion ‘gift’ to his Islamonazi pals)
but this will make room so that Israel can resettle some of the Muslim-persecuted and Muslim-threatened Christians now living in dangerous places like Iran, Iraq, Syria, etc.
Israel can do this for and with the Christians, just needs support instead of all the sabotage and backstabbing from WashingtonDC
The Christians have been in the Mid-east much longer than their Muslim murderers
Correction: The first payment attempt failed and the one I just did worked!
Return of the crusades, Yes.
Amen, second it.
Plus the intentions of all our FReeper family.
The Swiss Guard are. The KoC’s ceremoniously carry a sword, but I doubt that too many are a Basil Rathbone or Errol Flynn... ;)
Thank you Knights for helping again in another tremendously worthy cause. The Middle East Christians, and others, are in my prayers each day.
I’m not Catholic, but I say God bless the K of C.
Errol Flynn was exactly what I was thinking of :)
When Michael Curtiz directed the two in, "The Adventures of Robin Hood", Flynn was doing it again. Curtiz had a side bar with Rathbone, who came out smiling. This time when Flynn came out, Rathbone said to him as they began the fight scene, "I'm still making $***.** more than you, you dirty little Australian!!!"
It worked! Flynn, an agile former boxer from Tasmania, got his fight back, and jumped into the scene with vigor! He later received an apology from his costar... I just loved those two! Could never quite figure out who was the most handsome.
Major Rathbone, who, with his fiancee sat with the Lincolns in the President's Box at Ford's Theatre, was a cousin of Basil...
Thanks for listening! I'm a movie nut, because some of my most wonderful times with my Dad and my Mom, too, were spent watching movies: and Dad knew all the details!
God bless you!
Grateful
