We are free from the slavery of religion and from the fear of rejection, alienation, and guilt.

But most of all, we are free to follow Christ, not because we have to but because we want to. And this is what Paul, James, Peter, and John mean when they say they are bond-servants of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. They are free from the bondage of sin, and have willfully surrendered to Christ, just as an OT bond-servant offers himself to a master.

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
