The Shepards who came to Bethlehem when Jesus was in the manger, after an Angel told them to seek him there, were actually more than common shepards. They were in a tower which gave them an excellent view of the baby lambs being born, so they could fetch the ones without spot or blemish, wrap a few strips of cloth around them so they were preserved for the sacrifice of Passover and Atonement. When the Angel told them they would find the child lying in a manger wrapped in swaddling cloth, the shepards knew this was a special child because they would place the special wrapped lambs 'up' in a manger to prevent them becoming blemished! Since Mary and Joseph were the only people present at the nativity, just who narrated this story and to whom was it narrated???
A tower so they could watch lambs being born........uh, I guess it's possible....probable????no, but possible I guess.

well, actually, the History of Judaism around Jerusalem (and Bethlehem is about ten or so miles from Jerusalem) had a priestly appointed gaggle of shepards who actually did watch the lambing process in the fields from a two story or more tower, to pick out the ones without spot or blemish for the sacrifices. I placed an order for five copies just today, so I’ll send one to you if you like. They’re just under $13.00 each. I’ll give you one, if you’ll read it. we old men should do more reading.

“Since Mary and Joseph were the only people present at the nativity, just who narrated this story and to whom was it narrated???” The story of Jesus’s birth is in the Gospels. The Holy Spirit, Who was around then, told the story to the authors of the Gospels, especially the one doctor Luke wrote.

From SILENCE?
There COULD have been a LOT of folks around. Just because none were listed does NOT mean you can claim that none was there!
Typical Catholic 'logic'.
