Ping!
Because: Global Warming?
Is it Growing or is it Shrinking , make up your mind
Imagine the accusations that would be flying if a Protestant, such as yours truly, had posted this story.
It seems most (or at least a large minority ) of priests I have see in the last 10 years are from the third world.
Great news. Pray for vocations.
October 25 , 2015, Priesthood Sunday (Do something special for your priest such as a basket for spiritual bouquets or a basket for thank you cards or one of those big Thank You posters from the store.
November 1-7, 2015, National Vocation Awareness Week
There are four special days for prayer — and insert a prayer in the Prayers of the Faithful too.
I posted two above, and here are the other two:
World Day for Consecrated Life Feb 8, 2015
World Day of Prayer for Vocations April 26, 2015
Apparently the fastest hotspot in Asia for the growth of Catholicism is in South Korea. Christianity has had a greater presence in SK than some other Asian nations for a while. I met several Korean Christian youth groups when I was in Korea in the 1990s. So, I am not entirely surprised the Catholic Church has found growth there in recent years.
I am curious as to which other Asian countries are seeing the most growth. I would suspect Japan is not one of them. Perhaps India? I would also think Catholicism remains strong in the Philippines, outside of Mindanao.
“The overall finding of the report is that the Church is in the midst of a dramatic realignment.”
That is quite the spin.
Your denomination is not alone, of course. The semi-Catholic protestant denominations (”high churches”) are (largely) dying in Europe and the Americas.
Sacramentalism and a failure to teach God’s Word and the Gospel - and of course, the obsession with global warming and social issues instead of the Great Commission.
“It seems most (or at least a large minority ) of priests I have see in the last 10 years are from the third world.”
Likely because the Church has grown only in the third world.
Correction. The Catholic Church is not a Christian denomination. It is the first Christian religion. All other Christian denominations came after Catholicism.
Poor baby. Here's some cheese to go with all that whine.
‘Your denomination. Correction. The Catholic Church is not a Christian denomination. It is the first Christian religion. All other Christian denominations came after Catholicism.’
I realize you believe this, but the rest of the world and all other Christians do not. The Roman Catholic Church is listed in the Handbook of Denominations, along with Methodists, Amish, Anabaptists, etc. So I note your correction, but must reject it.
So... I’m correcting your correction :-) You can correct the correction of your correction...
That was my unspoken point. Across Europe and North America, faith has dwindled.
the one and true church continues to grow, now that’s exciting!!!!
We need to keep on praying, it works!!
Religion is like any competitive business. Instead of wealth maximization, the stake is about souls. You need a good strategic vision and execution to attract new people while retaining existing people. Evangelical churches in the US execute pretty well. I do not think the Pope has such capability.
Obligatory shrinkage reference:
Where the fertility rate is highest above replacement rate like in Sub-Saharan Africa where it is 5.15 the Church is growing rapidly.
