Do you Sola Scriptura types bother to read the bible?
Try this one: James 2:18
No, I will not quote it. If you know the Word of God half as well as you profess, you should already understand.
Peace, brother.
Problem is, Protestants (i.e. "Sola Scriptura types') CAN and DO read the Bible... Problem seems to be that Roman Catholic Cultists cannot read the Bible in CONTEXT.
You alluded to James 2:18. Did you read v. 17? Did you read the whole chapter in context?
Had that been done, you would see James is saying that Faith without fruits of Faith (i.e. "works") is a dead Faith... or a nonexistent or non-saving Faith.
Faith ALONE saves. Saving Faith GENERATES good works. They are the result of salvation, not the cause of it.
And since we're directing folks to verses, try these:
Ephesians 2:8-10
Romans 3:20
Romans 3:28
Titus 3:5
Context is your friend. Get to know him.

And what is the context of James in this passage? Compare it to Paul.
Context is key to understanding the Word.....something catholics neglect.
And this one says the same thing:
John 6:29
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
We are saved by the works of God.
