In addition to Scripture and Tradition, we also have the teaching authority, the first instance of which we saw when Simon declared Jesus the Messiah, and Christ explained that this was not knowledge from men but from Heaven. The teachings about Mary which were declared later were declared on the basis of what was taught in these verses, but the teachings themselves flow from what Christ revealed to us and were considered from verg early on in the Catholic Church’s history, except for the Assumption of Mary, which probably has also as its basis the fact, now somewhat lost to history, that Mary’s body disappeared/seems to be no longer on earth.

Elijah was carried to Heaven in a whirlwind preceeded by a fiery chariot; would Christ do less for His mother?

Is the belief that Elijah was carried to heaven a requirement by the Catholic Church with "anathema" proclaimed if one does not? The event concerning Elijah is recorded in scripture. Anything about Mary after Pentecost is not recorded at all either by religious or secular writings.

Jesus is no respecter of persons.

He wouldn't place His mother above others.

For that matter, He didn't.

Matthew 12:48-50 But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Jesus puts ALL of those who do the will of God on the same level as His mother.

So Mary was carried up to heaven in a fiery chariot?

Besides, that's about the weakest argument for something that I can imagine.

Show is some verses from Scripture where God tells us He took Mary up like that and you'll have a basis for your claim. Otherwise, it's just romantic, wishful thinking.

“Elijah was carried to Heaven in a whirlwind preceeded by a fiery chariot; would Christ do less for His mother?”

The Lord is not sentimental about Mary, that much is clear from Scripture. Didn’t she know he had to be about his FATHER’S business? The Marian folklore that Rome allowed to build up over the years turns out not to be so innocent, as principalities took advantage to speak THROUGH her, offering coy yet thoroughly demonic twists of TRUTH.

By effectively knee-capping Scripture, Catholics have opened themselves to demonic suggestion on many fronts. The invisible beings we are up against WILL take advantage of any departure from sound doctrine. Tradition? They love that and the creative control it allows.

Ummmmmm how do you know that ???Could it be because God wanted it recorded ?? Would He not want His "mothers" assumption recorded to give her the same honor??..Would not the apostles want to record it for the new church??

...The fact is there is nothing to suggest that Mary's body will not be raised with those of all other believers ..
