A Letter to My Liberal Jewish Friends

The president’s address last week to Congregation Adas Israel as “an honorary member of the tribe” was something other than it seemed.

Dear Congregants of Adas Israel:

On Friday, May 22, President Obama, calling himself “an honorary member of the tribe,” addressed you not just as the president of the United States but also as an explicit adherent of the “tikkun olam” tradition: a Jewish viewpoint for “repairing the world” that, in his reading, promotes universal progressive ideals like fighting bigotry and working for social justice everywhere. Thus, for him, the same “shared values” that underlay the civil-rights movement in the United States were what led him to identify himself with the cause of Israel—and also with the cause of Palestinian nationalism.

Although, as you may have noticed, the president never mentioned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by name, the heart of his speech was devoted to justifying his own role in their by now famous conflict. At the heart of that conflict, he suggested, was Netanyahu’s presumed hostility to recognizing the rights of the Palestinians. Making references to Ramallah in one breath and Selma in the next, and sketching an ethical map that made the civil-rights movement and Palestinian nationalism interchangeable, the president implied that support for Netanyahu’s policies was tantamount to rejecting the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.

It was Chemi Shalev, the U.S. editor of Haaretz, who best captured the essence of Obama’s May 22 message to you: “I represent your core values far better than the elected leader of Israel.” . . .

Unfortunately, most liberal Jews are not practicing. God is not a part of their lives. I know some who are also anti-Israel.

Their liberalism seems to come from two motivations:

1. Desire to live immoral lives
2. Desire to be see as hip and cool.

Technically speaking, Karl Marx was a member of the Tribe, although he was an atheist and advocated that the Jewish religion should be abolished. So by “honorary member of the Tribe”, Obama is saying that he’s Jewish in the same way as Marx was, except for the ethnic part. That is to say, he has no connection to Judaism at all, other than wanting it to go away, or at least redefined into something utterly unrecognizable.

“an honorary member of the tribe,”

I didn’t know socialists jews had a tribe. And who made him
an honorary member? George Soros?

“I represent your core values far better than the elected leader of Israel.” . . .

And he does. Socialist jews of the northeastern communist block USA, that is.

Marx was born and raised Lutheran, even considered the ministry. The closest he got to learning anything Jewish was studying Isaiah with New Testament scholar Bruno Bauer. No way would Marx have ever called himself a ‘member of the Tribe’.

My point was that it is an attribution with even less meaning for Obama than for Marx, who had nothing to say about Judaism other than to advocate for its abolition.

Why don't any of these rebukes of liberal Jews ever include the information that Judaism in its essence is a Theocratic religion in which (in ideal circumstances) sexual sins may be punished, even by capital punishment?

Or why don't they ever point out that quoting a few verses from the Nevi'im out-of-context does not change the fact that G-d commanded Israel to conquer a land, kill or expel its "indigenous" population, and create a Theocracy where they did all sorts of "irrational," non-Voltaire approved things like carry out animal sacrifices?

Is everyone in the whole world except me under some sort of spell that has caused these things to disappear from the collective human subconscious? Or am I just crazy???

I was a member of Adas Israel back in the 60’s. Even got married by the late Mensch Rabbi Stanley Rabinowitz. He would have crapped in his pants, if he were alive today, at what Adas Israel and its liberal fools have become.

Obama’s presence is an insult to sane Jews. Might as well have invited Calypso Louie Farrakhan, the Rev. Al Charlatan Sharpton, and the ambulance chaser/adultery Jesse Jackson to speak. Why invite the JV when you could have had the Varsity?

On second thought, Obama the Marxist and closet Moslem, is THE VARSITY OF THE LEFT and my fellow Jews are too stupid to realize it.

As the late Simeon Weisenthal might have said, “It’s the 1930’s all over again!”

{NB: Weisenthal, a correspondence acquaintance of mine, was a survivor of the Nazi concentration camps}
