I’m a florist, but I refused to do flowers for my gay friend’s wedding

I’ve been a florist in Richmond, Wash., for more than 30 years. In that time, I’ve developed close relationships with many of my clients.

One of my favorites was Rob Ingersoll. Ingersoll came in often and we’d talk. Like me, he had an artistic eye. I’d try to create really special arrangements for him. I knew he was gay, but it didn’t matter — I enjoyed his company and his creativity.

Then he asked me to create the floral arrangements for his wedding. I love Rob, and I’d always been happy to design for his special days. But there’s something different about a wedding.

My mother used to manage the costumes at a dinner theatre a few years ago. One of the actors took over her cutting table one day and was making himself a gown for a drag show. He wanted her to help him with it. She told him she was a Christian woman and would do no such thing and to get that thing off her table. I was sure there would be trouble for her but there wasn’t

the solution for those that refuse to support homo marriage (or anything else):

become a club

- membership is available to anyone walking into the shop
- valid membership is required to purchase from the club’s store
- membership dues are due upon walking up to the counter
- membership can be revoke at any time for any reason

“He better not do it - it would offend Muslims.”

Shout it from the rooftops.

Free Enterprise should be free to refuse service to anyone.

I like the suggestion posted on here a while back. Politely explain to the would be customer that you have religions objections and give them a referral to another business. If they persist and the law is likely to support them, then explain that you will cater their event and charge the normal rate. But whatever money is made will be donated to the Family Research Council or some other charitable cause / lobby group that they are unlikely to be happy about. And that the donation will be made in THEIR NAME.

That should put an end to the problem.

Having been the recipient of just as you stated, I stopped doing business with a customer. It was vicious, in front of other personnel, and I just finally said our business is over.

I have to say that the sheer venom in the comments is breathtaking.

I know. There is no higher wickedness than the immoral left, and they show it all. I'll bet that a lot of these commenters are from Washington State, one of the most evil states in this nation.

See 13A.

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

May the Almighty’s wrath fall heavily on those who oppress this woman, and those who sympathize with them.

no it wouldn’t. you fail to understand how they think.

they will take pictures of you while at the event and post them everywhere. they will make sure to make you as uncomfortable as possible.

they will then post how your organization is homo friendly and endorses their bs.

it’s best to avoid them entirely.

That’s the first time I’ve read her homosexual friend sued. I keep reading it was the state. I assume they’re friends no longer.
