The Archbishop of Canterbury the Most Rev. Justin Welby said that the worst "poison pen letters" he receives are from other Christians. The leader of the Anglican Communion said that Christian groups are failing to show tolerance to one another, and said that religious leaders should look to confront the "profound differences" between faiths.
"The worst poison pen letters I get are from other Christian groups on the whole," Welby revealed during his address to the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the Independent reported on Sunday.
"The reality is that we do not as faith groups in our society always exhibit that secure tolerance to each other that enables us to speak powerfully of secure tolerance to the world around us. Christians are as bad as anyone at this in fact, if I dare to be competitive, I think we're worse."
While Welby did not reveal the nature of the criticism directed in the letters toward him, the Church of England has faced division concerning its decision to change centuries of practice last year and allow women to be ordained as bishops.

Could the Archbishop of Canterbury recognize a Christian?
It’s not hate mail to point out to the Archbishop that he’s not doing his job, never has done his job, and ought to either straighten out or resign.
What a goofy thing to say. Welby is a Christian leader and makes decisions that affect other Christians. So it just stands to reason that the strongest criticism would be from Christians.
What did he expect, that the strongest criticism would come from Druids?
Not by looking in the mirror.
The last Archbishop of Canterbury was a Druid, but this one is not, at least that I know of.
“Archbishop becomes druid”

That’s a bit unfair. Welby’s been a weak, ineffective leader—just like the Rowan Williams was before....BUT, I’ve heard him preach, and I have no doubts he’s a Christian. Confused on some things and weak-kneed? Yes. Apostate? No.
I can only imagine the Biblical spam he gets!
Oh, great. I suppose that's one reason why so many young folks are turning away from the English church...silliness like that cannot command respect.
Did you read the article? The “Druid” claim is a bogus headline. Just a Welsh ceremonial honor....and real druids are a lot weirder than that!
A bit like joining the Society of Cincinnati here (a group for descendants of Revolutionary War officers), which I bet has some odd ceremony involved.
Rowan Williams was the weak ineffective theologically liberal Archbishop before Welby, the current weak, ineffective Archbishop. Both, I think, were chosen because they were nice, pastoral kind of guys...who seem to get along with everyone. Both have been about as weak and compromising as one can imagine. Just NOT the kind of leadership you want when the Church is getting assaulted by apostates within and secularism without.
Perhaps it bothers genuine Christians more than others when someone masquerades around as a Christian and supposed defender of the faith.
Dogmatic defense of Bible doctrine doesn’t imply a secure toleration of antichristian doctrine. Anything less is cowardice.
Well maybe you should get out more then, Justin, and see what the "competition" really IS.
Classic socialist. Somebody points out facts and he labels them hateful.
I’m sooo glad you noted me! Where do you keep these notes?
I said nothing personal. A simple response to your comment that you were noting my comments is hardly personal.
Oh, go away.
