It amuses how the Self-proclaimed solechristians battle with the Mormons; it’s like the Islamic cults fighting each other.

There is far too much pride on these threads to qualify as Christian.

Guess that marriage isn’t going anywhere.

Guess that marriage isn’t going anywhere.

Yup.

What's interesting, tho, is for twice or thrice-married Mormons who are fully accepted as fellow Mormons in good standing.

And I'm not even talking about divorced Mormons...rather, widowed ones.

Mormons talk about how a polygamous Lds member would be excommunicated if they engaged in polygamy on earth turf.

But, take a Mormon guy whose wife died.

He may take a second wife & be married to her in the Mormon temple (supposedly "for eternity"). And he may also have his second wife (or another woman)sit in as a proxy for his first wife and be sealed to her "for eternity" as well!

If the guy makes it to the top level of Mormon heaven, he, too, can become an eternal polygamist...minus all this public relations contemporary Mormon frowning upon polygamy.

Hence, most Mormons are outright hypocrites on this particular issue:

They condemn current polygamy...
...but not future polygamy.
And when you talk to them about Mormon past polygamy, they tend to be rather ambivalent about it.

Some hedge and haw.
Some are critical of it being practiced.
Many actually defend it, becoming apologists for it.

Billy Graham wrote: “Only God knows our hearts, and only He knows whether this person has sincerely put his faith in Christ as his Lord and Savior. Jesus warned, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged” (Matthew 7:1).”

“And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”

a few of the mormon church’s articles of faith:

“We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.”

“We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

You know, I've always noticed the exact opposite. Usually the people who complain the loudest about these threads are either: 1) Self-righteous Mormons who believe they are earning their way into heaven 2) Self-righteous non-Mormons who think they are earning their way into heaven.

Birds of a feather flock together it seems.

This is from the official Lds church Web site:

"...In addition there are higher ordinances, performed in the temples. These include washings, anointings, the endowment, and the sealing ordinance, spoken of generally as temple marriage."
"How important are the ordinances to us as members of the Church?"
"Can you be happy, can you be redeemed, can you be exalted without them? Answer: They are more than advisable or desirable, or even than necessary. More even than essential or vital. They are crucial to each of us."
"The Prophet Joseph Smith said he was frequently asked the question:"
"“Can we not be saved without going through with all those ordinances, etc.?” I would answer, No, not the fullness of salvation. Jesus said, “There are many mansions in my Father’s house, and I will go and prepare a place for you.” House here named should have been translated kingdom; and any person who is exalted to the highest mansion has to abide a celestial law, and the whole law too."
"(History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ed. B. H. Roberts, 7 vols. [Salt Lake City: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1949], 6:184.)"

Source: Lds.org: Preparing to Enter the Holy Temple Preparing to Enter the Holy Temple, (2002), 1–37

So, exaltation to the Mormon is living in the "highest mansion" -- living in the presence of Heavenly Father...those who live a one-degree lower heavenly realm, says the Mormon Doctrine & Covenants (76), can live with Jesus but can't abide "the fulness" of Heavenly Father.

And to do so, says Joseph Smith, "ANY person who is exalted to the highest mansion HAS to abide a celestial LAW, AND THE WHOLE LAW, TOO."

So, not only is living with the Mormon god(s) a theology of self-works-righteousness, which includes the so-called "crucial...higher ordinances..." which includes Mormon temple marriage...but since Smith says obedience to the "whole law" is necessary, a reminder from the book of James is in order:

For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. (James 2:10)

So, guess what, Mormons? The God of the Bible doesn't grade "on a curve." It's pass-fail. If you keep the whole Mormon law, yet stumble in just a single area -- "one point" -- says James...you are guilty of breaking the entire law!!!

Are you sure you want to keep trusting in yourself being able to obey the Mormon laws, obligations, covenants, rituals and legalistic entanglements perfectly?

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Mindreading is a form of making it personal.

How come you didn't include me on that list? I bash Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, and all sorts of cults all the time. If that makes you think that a person "believes they're the only ones going to heaven," I ought to be on the list. Of course, it be a pretty retarded reason to put me on the list and exposes you as likely either a Mormon yourself or a universalist or liberal "Christian" who doesn't read his Bible, but, hey, for me, getting put on the list would mean I'm doing good work.

If a person thinks Obama is the issue and not that soul destroying doctrine is an issue, then that person hates God and is His enemy.

...a few of the mormon church’s articles of faith:

You then went on to cite Articles 1, 3, and 4.

Here's a quick review of those articles compared to the "Technical Uninspired" version of them...ya know, ya gotta read the parenthetical explanations...:

Articles of Faith Lds Mainstream Version The 'Technical Uninspired’ version
LDS Article 1: “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.” (We say we believe in God, the Eternal Father – but it's actually more accurate to say 'We believe in Gods plural which includes an infinite chain of Heavenly Fathers)
Article 3: “We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.” (Well, technically, per Lds doctrine, the atonement’s all already ‘kicked in for all’ – so to speak. So what we’re really sayin’ is that we’re all @ ground zero due to the atonement. So everything’s now decided upon our obedience to the laws and us twisting the Gospel into yet another law by calling it ‘ordinances’!) As our one-time ‘prophet’ Joseph F. Smith once declared: "I Know that I can find [salvation] ONLY in obedience to the laws of God, in keeping the commandments, in performing works of righteousness, following the footsteps of our file leader, Jesus the Exemplar..." {Gospel Doctrine, p. 262}. And he got this direct from Joseph Smith himself: ”…by keeping the commandments they might be washed and cleansed from all their sins…” {Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, p. 220}. So essentially: we are saved by grace only AFTER all WE can do).
Article 4: “We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (See article 5 – then read: “About that baptism…for the remission of sins…we believe unbaptized Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were conferred the priesthood…meaning that whatever angel conferred upon them the priesthood ‘screwed up’ because he didn’t baptize them first…instead just telling Joseph and Oliver to baptize each other -- something we ridicule other churches doing – baptizing without having first been baptized with authority! So unbaptized Joseph baptized Oliver, making Oliver’s baptism invalid. And then Oliver baptized Joseph, but given that Oliver’s baptism was invalid from a proper authority transfer angle, then so was Joseph’s. Then Joseph, improperly baptized, conferred the Aaronic priesthood upon Oliver…contrary to the line of authority we claim. Then improperly ordained Oliver conferred the Aaronic priesthood upon Joseph, making that worthless.)

I've thought about posting a chart in response to the claimed that's a "10 % more disclosure" version of what the true Mormon beliefs are behind their Articles of Faith.

For example, on Article 1 you cite here, actually Lds believe in many -- as in multiple gods. But since that would have been kind of "off-putting" to 19th-century Americans, they didn't mention the "council of gods" referenced in the Pearl of Great Price -- nor does this article highlight the potential "millions" more "gods" who are "ex-mortals." (My, how convenient PR it is to present such lapses more openly to the public)

Colofornia .... Hey How’s the purveyance of Religious Biggotry going?

Yes, LSD (Mormons) believe that families are forever. And Yes, we believe that to be acceptable in the afterlife, Jesus Christ requested that all marraiges be solemnized by proxy in LDS Temples.

And yes, Colofornian, it’s very likely that at some time your mairrage (presuming you are married) will be performed by proxy in the LDS temple.

But don’t worry too much about it. If we are right, and God did really ask for this ordinace to be done for all of his children, then all you have to do is tell him “No”, I don’t want to live with you in the Celestial Kingdom, and I don’t want to live with my earthly spouse ever again!

If in fact the LDS church is as you say...a fraud, then all it means is that a lot of LDS members have been spending time worshiping God at temples and doing what they believe is his work instead of eating popcorn and watching movies.

So, you admit to beyond knowing-Jesus/God-as eternal life, which Jesus Himself said it was ("Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent")...
...Mormons have added a monopolistic religious ritual...
...in a facility not readily accessible by 90-95% of the world (& in previous generations, almost 100%...and pre 1840s, 100% of the world)...
...is that what you're claiming?

Jesus isn't the ONLY WAY to the Father? (John 14:6) The Mormon temple is now?
