From the Ligonier Ministries Facebook Page:
Last Saturday, Dr. Sproul checked himself into the hospital. The doctors suspect he had a mild stroke. He remains in the hospital for further testing and observation. The Sproul family requests your prayers.
Not good. Dr. Sproul hasn’t been in the best of health... Prayers up!
Hoss
He was a smoker for a number of years. (Very common, back in the day.) I wonder if this is related.
Prayers for peace and God will for Dr. Sproul and his family.
Prayers sent.
Prayers up.
He is a good man. Loved his video series on the holiness if God.
Prayers for Dr. Sproul. We follow his work closely.
Prayers for the healing and restoration of this wonderful teacher and man of God, in Jesus Holy Name, Amen.
R.C. didn’t look well at the Ligonier Conference in February. He was on oxygen and riding around on a scooter. I was afraid he wouldn’t be able to stand and preach, but he did.
Some of the Reformed FReepers probably know of Christian author Jerry Bridges (”The Pursuit of Holiness” among many others). In addition to writing, Jerry has been on the Navigators staff for something like sixty years now. I was with Brother Bridges over the weekend and he needs our prayers as well. I hadn’t seen him in two years and he has noticeably declined. Despite his health, his mind is still strong and he is writing another book. I pray God gives him much comfort and strength in the time he has left.
Dust to Glory was a stand out.
I am eternally grateful for the life and work of R.C. Sproul. His book “The Holiness of God” was huge for me. I later watched the video series as well. Most people overestimate the holiness of men while simultaneously vastly underestimating the holiness of God. Once both man and God’s true state begins to be understood a lot of silly theology goes out the window.
I am in the middle of Dr. Sproul’s series on Recovering the Beauty of the Arts. I think I will revisit the holiness series when I’m done.
My prayers for Dr. Sproul. Thank you Dr. Sproul
for being God’s vessel for delivering the Gospel
to so many people over many years.
Best wishes for a complete recovery.
Father, we pray that your perfect will to be done with RC Sproul.
Thank You for working through his life.
Thank You that Dr. Sproul was able to teach the countless (except to You) persons of your Truth.
‘Sanctify them by the Truth, Your Word is Truth.” John 17:17
Thanks for sharing. I have enjoyed and appreciated much of the Rev. Dr. Sproul’s commentary.
Praying for him and his family.
Prayers for his health and healing.
There are few saints in our generation who have been as used by the LORD as RC. I’ll pray for his recovery but if it is the LORD’s will for him “to die is gain”.
Several years ago I read an article by Dr. Sproul in which he stated that the most often quoted verse in the Bible, but one that people don't believe is:
May God grant RC is mercy and grace for a full recovery.
