I became a Christian because of him. In one of the darkest hours of my life, while channel surfing, I came across his TV show. Being the cynical scoffer I was, I thought it would make for good entertainment.
He had Larry Carlton on the show. Larry was the guitar player from one of my favorite bands, The Crusaders. Somebody had broken into his house to steal his valuable guitar collection. He confronted them and they shot him in the neck.
The doctors said he would never sing again.
So, here he was on the Hour of Power, giving his testimony. Then he picked up an acoustic guitar and beautifully sang, “Our Father Which Art in Heaven.”
I was moved to tears.
I called their prayer line asking them to pray for a resolution to my hard times.
It wasn’t long after that, all by myself, I got on my knees and asked Jesus to come into my heart and take my life that I might live it for Him.
In very short order, the worst of my problems began to clear away, and God even blessed us with a beautiful baby girl.
Thank you, Dr Schuller, for being there and presenting me the opportunity to begin the reconciliation with God.
And thank you, Larry Carlton, for your precious testimony and your demonstrable love for God in your music.
That’s a beautiful testimony. I loved his ministry when I had infants at home and didn’t go to church. He was a man of God, no doubt. You’ll get to tell him your story in heaven one day!
