THEATINES
The Clerks Regular of the Divine Providence founded in Rome in 1524 by two members of the Roman Oratory of Divine Love, St. Cajetan (1480-1547) and Gian Pietro Caraffa (1476-1559), later Pope Paul IV. Strictly austere, they were instrumental in advancing the Counter-Reformation. Their apstolic purpose is still essentailly the same: to restore in the Church of God the primitive rule of apostolic life.
