I just stumbled upon this in my morning reading:

Heb 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

There is such a Satanic and subtle difference between "Mother of my Lord" which is scriptural and "Mother of God" which, as you say, has intrinsic meaning that is intentionally ignored yet cannot be ignored.

I have friends who hate Christianity though not me specifically. They know what is offensive and that is where they tweek me whenever it seems fun to them. Sometimes it's like being tweeked on this issue.

I suppose a Catholic version could read “we had mothers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Mother of spirits, and live?

Blasphemous, but so are many extremes of Marian devotion.
