Mark 9:38 John said to him, Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us. 39 Jesus replied, Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. 40 For whoever is not against us is for us. 41 Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.
As a Catholic, we are with John in the Apostolic Succession. However, no one who professes the name of Jesus is my enemy.
“Okay. None claiming they were Protestants were martyred by RCC sanctioned killings. But many non-RCC Christians were.”
No. None were martyred.
Bishop Sheen “We may not be able to meet in the same pew but we can all meet together on our knees in prayer.”
Interesting how so many disregard the real thing isn't it?
And put faith in which Jesus? The one that ate blood and sinned or the one who didn't? The one who has to listen to Mary or the one who is the "all in all"? The one who listens to dead "saints" or the one who directed us to go directly to the throne of grace?
They do that with Muslims and Buddhists also. I'll pass thanks.
Our focus needs to be on the unity of all Christians, especially in light of the threat of radical Islamists like Al Quaeda, ISIS & Boko Harum.I asked one [Catholic] poster why she continues to put up threads [without the caucus protection] that are going to cause an uproar for Protestants and she said because no one much would respond to the thread otherwise. While I agree this is for the most part true, I wonder what Christ will have to say regarding this "dog-fight" mentality. To me it has nothing to do with Christianity, but more so it sides with the devil. And I joined you some time ago GreyFriar; your idea is a good one, and I hope others jump on board (if for no other reason, than to save their souls).
Jesus never drank of the cup that He gave to His disciples. Scripture never says that He did.
Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. [R] [+]
27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; [R] [+]
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. [R] [+]
29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.
Mark 14:22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. [R] [+]
23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. [R] [+]
24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. [R] [+]
25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
Luke 22:15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: [R] [+]
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. [R] [+]
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: [R] [+]
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. [R] [+]
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. [R] [+]
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
So He just caused the apostles who were also Jews under the law to sin?
Matthew 18:6 and whoever may cause to stumble one of those little ones who are believing in me, it is better for him that a weighty millstone may be hanged upon his neck, and he may be sunk in the depth of the sea.
For the first ten or fifteen years after my reversion, my main apologetical interest was in debating and discussing with Protestants. These days, I rarely engage the Protestant/Catholic debate, and I focus more on the “culture wars” by debating secularists and atheists. Protestants are fellow Christians, our brothers and sisters in Christ, and the Church is very clear on that. However, every so often, I revisit the issues that divide Protestants and Catholics because Truth matters, and because the Church is a stronger witness to the world when we are undivided. At the Last Supper, hours before His death, Jesus prayed that his followers all be...
LOL!!! And I'm sure the moonwalks were a hoax, and 9/11 was a conspiracy, too.
“LOL!!! And I’m sure the moonwalks were a hoax, and 9/11 was a conspiracy, too.”
No.
You're a broken record. I don't think it will do any good this time either... but you've already been answered many times.
That was no answer. In the first place, at the last supper Christ had not shed His blood yet and both He and the apostles were bound by the law. If hey had eaten real physical blood as the Catholics claim they would have been sinning.
All people on FR need to quit trying to “steal sheep”. Go out into the world and find tose who need Christ! Quit stirring the pot amongst each other!
Yes, I fully admit I have taken part in the past. A great sinner am I.
HAHAHAHAH! Thanks for the laughs! Funny, ain’t it, how this poor mislead woman’s talking points are directly the talking points and company line of the Roman church. I smell a concern troll once removed.
Not at all. Jesus is God who is the one who has all knowledge of good and evil.
As I said... broken record. God bless.
So, now that the dodging answer has been addressed, please respond to the fact that Scripture never says that Jesus partook of that which He gave to His disciples.
