I’m glad he did this, but it must have taken a lot of pressure. I know people in the Neocatechumenal Way, mostly Spaniards (it originated in Spain) but also some people in New England, oddly enough. They were founded at a bad time and have an odd liturgy that both JPII and BXVI tried to correct, but they are otherwise very, very orthodox.

They have huge families because they don’t practice any kind of birth control, even NFP, and have both a very lively family and community life (orchestras, art, pilgrimages, etc.) and were the leaders in welcoming BXVI to Madrid for the World Youth Day a couple of years ago.

None of them and no members of the JPII Institute were invited to the last Synod on the Family, and I think the complaints (the Neocatechumenate has powerful supporters) are what prompted PF to go out and greet these “rabbits.”
