Im of two minds on this.

one the hostages are free safe and healthy....a good thing

the other is that a dangerous precedent has been established...the mohammedan madmen have been paid off.. setting a standard for future kidnappings,

I'm curious about the fine print on this agreement... most certainly the ISIS lawyers (employed by ISIS) would have worked this out.

Would there be a time frame after release that these people would not be taken hostage again - how much time does $1700 buy?

$1700 sounds fairly low, given the ISIS budget. Perhaps the timeframe is 5 minutes. $1700 probably just covers the ISIS expense for the lawyers to write up the ransom agreement.
