From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

Actually, in the context that we are discussing, Jesus says that the fruit of the vine is His blood.

No he didn't...In the context Jesus said the fruit of the vine which he called blood is still the fruit of the vine...

Jesus said the cup is the blood...Then Jesus said the cup is the testament in his blood...And lastly, Jesus calls it the fruit of the vine...

Just as the apostle Paul acknowledges that the bread,,,is bread and the wine is wine...

It's interesting, or should be that Jesus never said the bread and wine continued to look and taste like bread and wine but it was really flesh and blood...That's a Catholic thing...Not a Jesus thing...Jesus never said anything about the substance of those things changing while the appearance and characteristics stayed the same...

If Jesus was being literal, there should have been a slab of flesh and a cask of blood sitting there...All that transubstantiation stuff was made up by your religion since it could not change bread and wine into flesh and blood...

I'll stick with the Catholic church, they have about 1,950 more years of experience that you do....

Then I can say you'll probably 'stick' with Obama; for he has LOTs more 'experience' at being President than you do.

That's about the worst attempt at an analogy as I've ever seen....you're slipping!

Let's try some easy math:

WOW...3 in a row....naughty Popes, whatever that other thing is, and Mary's time line.

I told you before that Mary, being assumed bodily into Heaven, is no longer restrained by mere time constraints.

An hour is like a thousand years is like 15 seconds....something like that...anyway time, as we know it, does not apply in Heaven......I think that you're just putting us on....you probably knew that all by yourself!!!!

but there is ZERO they would recognize in the Catholic Church. It looks NOTHING like the church set up by Paul...Peter...and the Apostles.

Well....O.K....we do have nicer buildings...seldom use caves anymore. Air conditioning was a definite advantage...we now have music too. The confessionals in most churches are pretty much enclosed for privace....we had, but eliminated communion rails unlike the Apostles who were just sitting around a table (pictures show them all on one side but I doubt the accuracy of that)The priests wear liturgical vestments but I don't think that they are totally necessary....they don't wear them on the battlefield....The Pope has a much nicer residence than did Peter when he was Pope, but I guess that's just modern progress. Liturgically and scripturally speaking...nothing has changed.

“This conjecture, any proof?”

” Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time onward until His enemies be made a footstool for His feet.”

Oops! Guess that shows there is no wall of separation between heaven & time...

Wrong because without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins. Water can’t do it because it’s the wrong thing for doing it.

Slept a lot during religion class did you??

Baptism by water and the spirit cleanses us from the stain of ORIGINAL sin...that of Adam, hence mankind....remember now???

You even called him “demonic”. Like your first pope? Get thee behind me; SATAN...

Oh, I think St. Pete will be able to fend for himself....probably didn't even have to serve time in Purgatory for that...

This is the interpretation of Scripture that Roman catholics maintain is what Jesus meant. Comparing Scripture with Scripture, it becomes evident RCs (and others) have misappropriated the words of Jesus and, by church practices and doctrines over time, His intent.

Some of Lord Jesus Christ's Church which He founded may be contained within spheres of Catholic influence. MOST of the members of His Church (His Body here on earth) are outside the Catholic hierarchy's purview.

So now Jesus has grape juice flowing though His veins?

Then religion class teaches differently than Scripture.

I’ll stick with Scripture.

.Catholicism is not a denomination...it is pure Christianity.... And it PRODUCES only the VERY BEST leaders; too!

Christ picked 1/12 of His followers as a loser....
