Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.
I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.
What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldnt be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been born again or have accepted Christ as their Savior, their main response is I believe in God or I am a good person, or Im Catholic. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, dont they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

Gotta watch those lasses. Only date the ones with class!
No you can't....you can be baptized in a Lutheran church, an Episcopal church, a Baptist church, in a hospital, in a bedroom right after birth if necessary, on a bus, in an auto....it doesn't matter at all where you were baptized nor by who....I can do it, you can do it, the Pope can do it...it is all the same....If you were validly baptized, you were baptized Catholic....there can be no other way.
Thank god....I hope that means you wont reply anymore...
Your whole “superior than thou” act was getting old....
No, but being Baptized with it did.
They arent getting that it is the act of baptism alone...not the label applied to the act baptism after the fact.
1Co 11:26
“For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.”
No cannibal mass there! Must be somewhere else?
And here in several places...scripture tells us to judge not.
Luke 6:37
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Luke 6:41
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
John 8:7
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Romans 2:1
You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
Romans 14:10
You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.
Romans 14:13
Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.
1 Corinthians 4:5
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
James 4:11
Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.
The Church is the inns and signpost on the road pointing to Christ..
Good grief...first of all read my tag line....done??
OK, now think....how many books were available to the public before the printing press?
answer...virtually none...all books were hand written and hand copied and were virtually works of art. There were books in the homes of royalty....in libraries in major cities, in monastaries...that type of thing.
The reason that most people couldn't read is simply because there wasn't much to read. There were scribes who wrote and read for a living and that is how most correspondence was done...no magazines, no newspapers, no mail service, no billboards, no advertisements on the bus, there were no labels in clothing, no roadsigns except picture signs, no internet, no twitter...almost no written documents at all available to the public. There were obviously business people and government people and people in religious positions who could read....but the shepherd, the farmer...not so much.
Eminent Protestant scholars and theologians who realized their scholarship and theology was so wrong that they left if behind for another religion...
Looks like these people weren't so scholarly after all...Just a bunch of failed Protestants...
No obviously...they had the internet and all the written works of religion at their finger tips to reflect upon.
Just like we do now.
*snicker*
You posted a definition of Sola Scriptura that was his and cited him. I asked you why we should believe his definition and who gave him the authority. You of course ignore the question.
So back to the original comment. Two men with PH.D.s , both protestant disagree with you. They both cite the Bible as their source. Time LaHaye also disagrees with you and cites the Book of Revelation.
Nice try but you lose.
The Protestant Kool-Aid is the bible...The Catholic Kool-Aid is near death experiences, the ghost of Mary, religious traditions (even those traditions that haven't been created yet), and just about every religious practice that has been banned by the bible...
Not true...none of those naughty Catholics attempted to change church teachings at all whereas the protestant "leaders" did....none of the naughty Catholics decided to eliminate books from the bible....some protestants did.
The Catholics, like everyone else, are wholly responsible for their behavior and will be dealt with....just like the rest of us
Blah, blah, blah.
Kinda like Catholic Masons...
Ok...it looks like I need to back the hell out of here before I get zotted.....
Hint taken...
*alas brave Sir Robin was forced to eat his minstrals....and they rejoiced*
I could really care less if you don’t believe someone is a priest. Try paying attention to what he says about the Catholic Church and anyone that knows anything about Catholicism, which the average protestant does not, will quickly come to the conclusion that this particular poster is either a Catholic priest or a PHD in Theology. And I don’t have to guess and you don’t have to guess the education level of Fulton Sheen, John Henry Newman or Benedict 16th. There is absolutely no one on the FR boards that has that type of background in religion. And guess what, of the last three that I mentioned one was a convert from protestantism and all three will one day be canonized saints. If either Sheen or Benedict 16th in all their years of study had thought that Catholicism was wrong they would have left the faith and become a protestant. The exact same reason that Cardinal Newman left protestantism. They would have done so because they were also men of integrity that could not live a lie. Lastly name me one world renowned Catholic theologian who has all the sudden said Catholicism was wrong and left the faith for a protestant denomination. You can’t. They don’t exist. Now what me to name all the brilliant protestant theologians that became Catholic? I am a Catholic for one reason and one reason only. It’s the truth, whether you or anyone else agrees with that or not. There are now over 400 replies to this simple thread about someone that converted to Catholicism. Why so many replies? Why can’t people of all faiths be happy for him instead of immediately saying he didn’t know what he was doing and in the process start badmouthing Catholicism. I think we both know the answer.
Again, Paul says it is just bread...
No, we don’t need “magical water’ to baptize a person. John the Baptist didn’t use “mystical water”. He used whatever water supply was near. Baptism was performed before the Catholic church was in existence.
