Popular American evangelist Joel Osteen is promoting the warrior mentality among Christians, telling them not to be weighed down by their problems because all things are possible with Christ.
"If you'll have this warrior mentality and do what you can do, God will help you do what you cannot do. Remember, God has armed you with strength for every battle. Keep praying, keep believing, keep pressing through because with God, you will tap into strength you didn't know you had!" he said.

How positively Mormon!

If only those Coptic Christians had heard this before ISIS cut their throats.

American Christianity is soft and flabby. There is no way we could stand up to ISIS like those brave souls are doing in Egypt.

Osteen is an entertaining motivatinal speaker. Nothing more. Nothing less. When it comes to Joel, there's not much left below "less".

There is no way we could stand up to ISIS like those brave souls are doing in Egypt. I beg to differ. We'd be armed. ;-)

Joel Osteen seen here in the act of promoting the warrior mentality.

Suuure.
Watch ISIS blow up one church on Sunday morning and people would stop going to any church.

I’ve seen videos of him speaking. I’ve also watched, listened to and read a lot of motivational speakers/writers.
He’s one of them. He references scripture just like they do. He’s entertaining just like they are. He offers pretty good advice, just like they do.
Only he does it under the auspices of being some kind of preacher. That is the creepy part.

God will help you do what you cannot do.
Does that include dieing well, I wonder?
(I'm reading through Sproul's Surprised by Suffering, that Ligonier had as a free download briefly, a while back. Glad I got it then. Life has taken a couple good wrenches these last couple years.)

I agree.
As far as middle eastern Christians are concerned, they don’t have much choice in standing up to ISIS. They’re wildly outnumbered with no escape.
If Olsteen wants to prove something, maybe he should consider leading by example.

I have always counted on that.
Don’t hear that coming from many TV preachers though.

You got that right. Many think a praying man is weak, but hands folded here in a traditional ‘praying pose’ is a position of strength.
I am not sure what this article is even trying to say, but I agree with him here.
When everything seems against you, don’t give up, don’t give in, don’t feel sorry for yourself. ‘Having done all, stand’ is how someone else put it once...
