We left our previous church after we saw the adoration of Rob Bell by both the pastor and youth pastor. Only two other families seemed to have a problem with the youth pastor using Bell’s Nooma series and other books rather than the Bible. One was an elder who went to the pastor and his concerns were dismissed as irrelevant.
It was shocking how when we expressed concerns, with examples showing how Bell’s views conflict with scripture, so many in our conservative church thought we were really off base. All these people claimed to love the Lord, spent time in His word, and put great efforts into evangelism in our town. Yet almost all were blind to the false teachings their teens were hearing every single week.
