The Holy See Press Office has released the text of Pope Franciss 2015 Lenten message.
Entitled Make Your Hearts Firm-- a reference to a verse in the Letter of St. James-- the message, dated October 4, calls upon Christians to confront the globalization of indifference.
Indifference to our neighbor and to God also represents a real temptation for us Christians, the Pope wrote. Each year during Lent we need to hear once more the voice of the prophets who cry out and trouble our conscience.
He added:
In the Incarnation, in the earthly life, death, and resurrection of the Son of God, the gate between God and man, between heaven and earth, opens once for all. The Church is like the hand holding open this gate, thanks to her proclamation of Gods word, her celebration of the sacraments and her witness of the faith which works through love. But the world tends to withdraw into itself and shut that door through which God comes into the world and the world comes to him. Hence the hand, which is the Church, must never be surprised if it is rejected, crushed and wounded.
After recommending reflection on three verses of Sacred Scripture, the Pope concluded, Let us all ask the Lord: Fac cor nostrum secundum cor tuum: Make our hearts like yours (Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus). In this way we will receive a heart which is firm and merciful, attentive and generous, a heart which is not closed, indifferent or prey to the globalization of indifference.
Lent begins soon, Ping!
Looking forward to it!
In 1899 Pope Leo XIII approved this Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for public use. This litany is actually a synthesis of several other litanies dating back to the 17th century. Father Croiset composed a litany in 1691 from which 17 invocations were used by Venerable Anne Madeleine Remuzat when she composed her litany in 1718 at Marseille. She joined an additional 10 invocations to those of Father Croiset, for a total of 27 invocations. Six more invocations written by Sister Madeleine Joly of Dijon in 1686 were added by the Sacred Congregation for Rites when it was approved for public use in 1899. This makes a total of 33 invocations, one for each year of life of our Lord Jesus Christ. A partial indulgence is attached to this litany. Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus |

Tuned him out, he is onto global warming encyclicals.
Pink and green and it’s sad but factual.
Indifference = lukewarm.
Jesus says to be either hot or cold but not lukewarm, right?
Even the liberals are discovering that what the media reports about Pope Francis is usually NOT accurate.
I wonder why some Catholics are still being duped by the main-stream media?
Not understanding what you are saying.
He is not indifferent if he promulgates an encyclical.
And I am not indifferent if he shows himself as a Liberation Theologist while ignoring mass islamacides in Middle East.
Do you mean he is indifferent to the murders of Christians? It looks like he is, or puts much less emphasis on it.
We will have to wait and see if there is an encyclical on global warming/climate change.
And the “breeding like rabbits” insulting comment after meeting a woman with 7 or 8 children does not sound “conservative” or Christian or pro-family or polite or grounded in scripture.
We have to look facts in the eye.
No, I’m talking about the general public who is indifferent to things of faith.
We should look ALL the facts in the eye...and from a sound spiritual perspective.
