A village about seven miles from Jerusalem. It was on the road to Emmaus that two disciples met the risen Jesus and accompanied him to the village (Luke 24:13-35). Not until he broke bread at supper did they recognize him. then he disappeared and they hastened back to Jerusalem to tell the Apostles of the encounter.
